Is Gojo back in Chapter 261?
No. The reveal is that Yuta has taken over Gojo’s body as a desperate measure in the battle against Sukuna. Gojo has not returned as himself; the person acting in his body is Yuta.

Yuta is the central character of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the series’ official prequel. VIZ describes him as a student recruited to Jujutsu High after a curse connected to his childhood friend causes harm. The main series, created by Gege Akutami and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump beginning in 2018, follows sorcerers fighting cursed spirits.
How did Yuta take over Gojo’s body?
Chapter 261’s events are summarized as a brain transplant into Gojo’s body using Kenjaku’s body-transfer technique. Yuta had access to that technique through Copy. The account says Shoko prepared Gojo’s body, and Yuta used reverse cursed technique after the transfer. The story frames the choice as an extreme contingency: Gojo has been defeated, and Yuta himself is critically injured. The transfer is followed by a confrontation with Sukuna. The explanation here does not establish how long the transfer lasts or what happens to Yuta or Gojo beyond the events covered by the reveal.
Why does Yuta use Gojo’s body?
Yuta’s decision is a last-resort attempt to keep fighting after his own body is left critically injured. Taking Gojo’s body gives him a way to continue the battle; it is not a sign that Gojo has been revived. The distinction matters: the body is Gojo’s, but the person in control is Yuta.
