Bonnie Blue’s Australian visa was reported cancelled in November 2024 after she publicised plans to travel to the Gold Coast for Schoolies and film adult content. Contemporaneous reports linked the decision to an immigration concern: making monetised content in Australia could count as work that her tourist or holiday visa did not allow.
What happened to Bonnie Blue’s Australian visa?
On 8 November 2024, SBS News reported that the Department of Home Affairs had cancelled Blue’s tourist visa. SBS said she had announced plans to attend Schoolies and make explicit videos with 18-year-old men, and that it understood the visa did not permit her to work or earn money in Australia. The report also said her publicist could not yet comment. SBS News
PerthNow reported the same day that Blue held a 12-month holiday visa and that the reported concern was an allegation she intended to work while in Australia. Its account connected the cancellation to her planned filming, rather than establishing that she had already travelled to Australia or filmed there. PerthNow
Why was the visa reportedly cancelled?
The contemporaneous accounts tied the decision to the possibility of paid or otherwise monetised work during a visit on a tourist or holiday visa. SBS described the visa as not allowing work or earning money in Australia; PerthNow described allegations that Blue planned to work while on her holiday visa. The case-specific explanation available in those reports is not a published Home Affairs decision notice, so it is more accurate to describe this as the media’s account of the Department’s reasoning than as a directly reviewed official explanation.

PerthNow also attributed a comment to Immigration Minister Tony Burke through the Daily Mail: “The Australian visa system has rules. If you don’t intend to obey those rules, don’t apply”. That is a second-hand quotation attribution in PerthNow, not a statement verified here against a ministerial transcript. PerthNow
What Australian visa rules say about cancellation
The Department of Home Affairs says visa cancellation may be discretionary, mandatory or occur by operation of law. Its general guidance lists failure to comply with visa conditions as one possible ground and notes that the listed reasons are not exhaustive. That general policy explains why a suspected mismatch between a visitor visa and planned work can matter; it does not identify which cancellation power or statutory ground was used in Blue’s case. Section 119 of the Migration Act 1958 sets out written notice and an opportunity to respond for a proposed cancellation under section 116, subject to statutory qualifications and other subdivisions. That provision should not be assumed to describe Blue’s process: the applicable procedure depends on the power used and the person’s circumstances. The Department likewise says review rights depend on the particular decision, and that the Administrative Review Tribunal reviews merits decisions only within its jurisdiction. - The Australian visa cancellation was reported in November 2024, following publicised plans for Schoolies filming; it was not a new decision reported in 2026.
- The reports attributed the concern to planned work or monetised content inconsistent with the visitor visa, but the available material does not include a case-specific Department notice.
- The reports do not establish that Blue was deported from Australia. They describe a cancellation ahead of the planned visit.
- The available material does not verify whether she appealed, whether the decision was revoked, or whether she later received another Australian visa. It therefore does not establish her current eligibility to enter Australia.
