Celebrity Net Worth estimates Lizzo’s net worth at $40 million, a figure its page was last updated on April 16, 2026. No public financial disclosure reviewed here verifies that total, so it should be treated as an estimate—not a confirmed balance sheet.
What the $40 million estimate does—and does not—mean
The figure comes from Celebrity Net Worth. Biography.com reported the same estimate in February 2025 and attributed it to Celebrity Net Worth, rather than presenting a separate calculation. The reviewed estimate page does not lay out a transparent accounting of Lizzo’s assets, debts, ownership interests, or contract income. Celebrity Net Worth’s Lizzo estimate and Biography.com’s profile therefore support reporting the estimate, but not treating it as a verified personal financial statement.

Net worth is not the same as total career earnings, record sales, or gross revenue. Without documentation of what Lizzo owns, owes, and has received under specific agreements, the sources do not establish how the estimate was calculated or how much of it comes from any one activity.
Why “platinum status” needs a qualification
The headline’s “platinum” wording is a play on Lizzo’s song “About Damn Time” and her success as a recording artist. It should not be read as confirmation that the song holds a platinum sales certification. The Recording Academy confirms that “About Damn Time” won Record of the Year at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2023; that award is distinct from a sales certification. The sources cited here do not establish the song’s current RIAA certification. The Recording Academy’s Lizzo page documents the award.

#1 Best Overall
Lizzo described the song’s creative direction in an Apple Music feature: “For this record, I was like, ‘We are making a disco record.’” She also spoke of wanting a “marching song [that would help] us move forward.” Those comments help explain the song’s sound and intent, but say nothing about its certification or her personal earnings. Apple Music’s Special page includes her comments.
What the public record says about Lizzo’s music career
Songwriting and licensing opportunities
In a July 2022 interview with Music Week, Guy Moot, then Warner Chappell Music CEO and co-chair, praised Lizzo’s songwriting and discussed sync opportunities for her music in television, film, and advertising. He described those uses as an industry opportunity around her catalog; the interview does not disclose Lizzo’s royalty share or personal receipts. Music Week’s July 2022 interview is evidence of industry discussion, not a breakdown of her income.

Historical chart and audience figures
The same 2022 Music Week report cited 324,526 UK sales to date for “About Damn Time,” based on an Official Charts Company figure, and reported 34,113,530 monthly Spotify listeners at that time. These are dated UK sales and platform-audience measures, respectively—not current global totals, royalty calculations, or evidence of what Lizzo personally earned.
Recorded output after Special
Atlantic Records announced on September 5, 2025 that Lizzo had released My Face Still Hurts From Smiling through Nice Life Recording Company and Atlantic Records. Apple Music lists the earlier My Face Hurts From Smiling mixtape as released June 27, 2025. These releases document continued recorded output, but neither source reports earnings. Atlantic Records’ release announcement and Apple Music’s mixtape listing provide the release details.

What can responsibly be said about how she makes money?
Songwriting, recorded music, live performances, licensing, and brand work are possible parts of a recording artist’s business. In Lizzo’s case, the cited industry interview documents discussion of songwriting and sync opportunities, but the available sources do not establish the amounts she received, the terms of her contracts, or her ownership stakes. It would be speculation to assign a dollar value from the $40 million estimate to touring, streaming, publishing, acting, endorsements, or Yitty.
Her official store lists an “About Damn Time” CD. That confirms the product’s listing, not its current stock, price, sales volume, or contribution to her wealth.
Quick Recap
How to read celebrity net-worth estimates
- Check who originated the number. Biography.com attributes its $40 million figure to Celebrity Net Worth, so the two publications do not amount to two independent estimates.
- Look for a stated method. The reviewed material does not provide a transparent itemized calculation of assets and liabilities.
- Separate business activity from personal wealth. Sales, streams, chart placements, awards, and licensing opportunities do not by themselves reveal an artist’s net income or ownership.
- Keep dates attached to figures. The estimate page’s update date is April 16, 2026; the chart and Spotify figures in the cited trade report are from 2022.
