Dragon Ball DAIMA presents a DAIMA-specific Super Saiyan 4 in its story, so the form is part of DAIMA’s official narrative. But that does not, by itself, settle every debate about how DAIMA fits into Dragon Ball’s broader continuity: the official sources cited here do not provide a franchise-wide definition of “canon” or a ruling that resolves those questions.
What DAIMA establishes about Super Saiyan 4
The strongest straightforward conclusion is that Super Saiyan 4 belongs to DAIMA’s official story. The Dragon Ball Official Site uses the name “Super Saiyan 4 Goku – DAIMA -” for a figure in its Figuarts ZERO [Extra Battle] line. Toei Animation describes DAIMA as an all-new original anime and says Akira Toriyama worked on its original concept, story, and character designs. That production context makes the series an official Toriyama-involved Dragon Ball project; it does not establish a universal policy for which works count as canon. What the episode sources say about the reveal
The distinction between official episode material and other coverage matters here. The Dragon Ball Official Site’s announcement about episode 18 describes the story’s climax and mentions Goku using Super Saiyan 3; it does not explain a Super Saiyan 4 transformation. Does that make the form canon?
It depends on what “canon” means in the question. If it means “shown as part of an official Dragon Ball series,” the answer is yes: the form is presented in DAIMA, and the franchise’s official site labels the related figure as the DAIMA version. If “canon” means a definitive answer about how every Dragon Ball series and timeline relates, the sources here do not settle that broader issue. No official statement cited here declares, in those terms, “Super Saiyan 4 is canon.”

A careful formulation is therefore: DAIMA makes a DAIMA-specific Super Saiyan 4 part of its official story; it does not, through the cited statements, issue a franchise-wide canon ruling. This distinguishes what the series presents from the larger continuity interpretation fans may attach to it.
Is DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 4 the same as GT’s?
Super Saiyan 4 is also associated with Dragon Ball GT, but the official materials cited here do not directly compare the DAIMA and GT forms. They establish the DAIMA version’s official name, not a definitive shared origin, identical design details, relative power, or continuity relationship. It would be overstatement to say on this evidence alone that DAIMA replaces GT’s version or that the two are identical in every respect.
