The Undertaker is the most successful member of the Ministry of Darkness by a wide margin, with Edge the strongest post-Ministry breakout. Christian and Bradshaw—later known as JBL—round out the top tier. This ranking weighs championships, major-event achievements, career longevity, Hall of Fame recognition and cultural impact, while treating Paul Bearer as a manager rather than comparing him directly with wrestlers.
Who was in the Ministry of Darkness?
The Ministry of Darkness was The Undertaker’s villainous WWF stable in late 1998 and 1999. Its commonly recognized lineup included Undertaker, manager Paul Bearer, The Acolytes Bradshaw and Faarooq, Mideon, Viscera and The Brood—Edge, Christian and Gangrel. WWE’s official history says the group later merged with Shane McMahon’s Corporation to form The Corporate Ministry in April 1999.
That lineup matters because a member’s importance to the faction is not the same as career success. Gangrel helped define The Brood’s vampire presentation, and Mideon became a recognizable recruit, but neither had the singles or tag-team résumé of Undertaker, Edge or Christian. The ranking below reflects the members’ careers as a whole, not just their roles in the Ministry.
How the ranking measures success
The order balances five factors: highest singles championship, tag-team success and chemistry, longevity after the Ministry, major-event achievements and Hall of Fame recognition, and cultural or storyline impact. A brief world-title run does not automatically outrank a long, decorated tag career; likewise, a distinctive character can be memorable without having a comparable championship record.

1. The Undertaker
Undertaker is the Ministry’s defining member and the clear No. 1. His WWE profile lists WWE and World Heavyweight Championship reigns, six tag-team title reigns and victory in the 2007 Royal Rumble. His WrestleMania record reached 24–2, and he headlined WWE for three decades before retiring in 2020 and entering the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022.
His case combines a top-level championship résumé with unusual longevity and an enduring central role in WWE storytelling. He was not simply the Ministry’s leader; his career success places him in a different tier from the rest of the stable.
2. Edge
Edge is the Ministry member with the strongest career breakout after the faction. WWE credits him with 31 total titles and lists WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, the 2001 King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, and Royal Rumble victories in 2010 and 2021. WWE also identifies him as the first wrestler to cash in Money in the Bank, in 2006. He entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
That combination of singles success, longevity and tag-team achievement makes Edge the runner-up. His history with Christian began in The Brood, but his later résumé grew far beyond the group.

3. Christian
Christian’s career reached a world championship later than Edge’s, but his achievements span singles and tag-team divisions. WWE lists World Heavyweight, ECW, Intercontinental, European, Hardcore, Light Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships. He won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011, and WWE credits Edge and Christian with seven World Tag Team Championship reigns together.
Christian ranks below Edge because the cited world-title achievement was a brief 2011 reign, while Edge accumulated a broader singles résumé and major-event record. Christian’s tag-team success and range of championships still put him well above most of the Ministry roster.
4. Bradshaw, later JBL
Bradshaw entered the Ministry as one of The Acolytes; his most successful singles chapter came later as JBL. WWE lists a WWE Championship reign that lasted 280 days, along with secondary and tag-team titles, and his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020.
The JBL reinvention turned a tag-team enforcer into a top heel, while his later work as a commentator and analyst extended his presence beyond the ring. That career transformation gives him a stronger overall case than his Acolytes partner, Faarooq.

5. Faarooq
Faarooq was an experienced, credible enforcer in The Acolytes and later the APA. The official material cited for this ranking provides less evidence of a sustained singles world-title peak than it does for JBL, so Faarooq places fifth rather than competing with the former tag partner’s later championship run.
His standing rests on longevity, tag-team credibility and the hard-edged identity he brought to the Acolytes and APA. Those qualities give him a stronger overall career case than the remaining Ministry wrestlers.
6. Viscera
Viscera was a physically imposing and memorable presence in the Ministry presentation. His mainstream WWF/WWE visibility and the durability of the Viscera character put him ahead of Mideon and Gangrel in this career-success ranking. The official material used here, however, does not document a comparable world-title résumé or Hall of Fame career, leaving him below the Acolytes on measurable championship success.
7. Mideon
Mideon was a recognizable Ministry recruit, and WWE has identified him as a member of the faction. His role helped sell the group’s recruitment storyline and atmosphere, but the official material cited here does not show the major singles or tag-team title résumé held by the names above him. His place is higher as a Ministry character than as a career titleholder.

8. Gangrel
Gangrel was essential to The Brood’s vampire aesthetic and, through it, the Ministry’s visual identity. That presentation made him important to the group’s look, but his documented championship and longevity profile is lighter than those of Edge and Christian. Eighth reflects overall career success, not his contribution to The Brood’s style.
9. Paul Bearer (manager)
Bearer belongs on the roster of Ministry members, but he should not be judged by a wrestler-only title ladder. WWE’s history places him alongside Undertaker at the group’s formation and during its attacks and rituals. As the Ministry’s manager and creative mouthpiece, his impact was substantial; ninth is a category-aware placement, not a verdict on his importance to the stable.

The group’s strongest long-term career stories came from different directions: Undertaker was already a defining headliner, while Edge and Christian emerged from The Brood into major singles and tag-team success. Bradshaw’s later JBL persona became another substantial post-Ministry chapter. At the same time, faction importance did not depend on title totals: Gangrel’s look and Mideon’s place in the recruitment story helped make the Ministry recognizable.
