Who has said they bullied someone?
Christopher Eccleston: a story that crosses both categories
The Independent reported that Eccleston recalled being bullied as a child and also spoke about bullying a classmate. He apologized to that former classmate. This is the strongest example in the available reporting of someone whose story belongs in both groups; it does not establish a complete roster of people who bullied others. The headline’s two groups are useful prompts for looking at different childhood experiences, but the reporting available here verifies only a sample of people who have described being bullied and one substantiated example involving bullying others. Eccleston’s account also shows that the categories are not necessarily exclusive. A responsible list should distinguish a firsthand recollection from reporting about a person and describe conduct as an admission, apology, or allegation only where the source supports that wording.
