This is a retrospective guide to six films that arrived on Netflix in the United States in November 2024—not a current monthly watch list. The picks range from psychological drama and family animation to a holiday romance, with release dates on November 1, 9, 13 and 22. Netflix availability changes by country and over time, so check your local catalog before planning a watch.

The six films, and who might enjoy them
The Whale — November 1
Darren Aronofsky’s 2022 psychological drama centers on Charlie, played by Brendan Fraser, with Sadie Sink and Hong Chau also in the cast. Its focus on performance and strained family relationships makes it the most intense adult drama in this selection. BGR’s release guide notes that the film’s portrayal of obesity has been debated; that is a criticism to consider, not a claim that every viewer or critic shares the same response.
The Lost City — November 9
Sandra Bullock plays romance novelist Loretta Sage, while Channing Tatum is the cover model swept into an adventure alongside her. Daniel Radcliffe plays the antagonist. This is the lighter, action-comedy option for viewers who want a brisk adventure rather than a serious drama.

Jacques Audiard’s 2024 film follows four women in Mexico through a story told with original songs and dance. The ensemble includes Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz and Edgar Ramírez. Netflix describes it as an odyssey in which the women pursue their own happiness; BGR frames it as a musical crime comedy. Its blend of crime-story elements and musical form makes it the most distinctive genre combination on the list.
Hot Frosty — November 13
This holiday romantic comedy follows Cathy, a widow who brings a handsome snowman to life two years after her husband’s death. It is the seasonal, lighter-hearted pick, with a fantastical premise at its center.

The Piano Lesson — November 22
Adapted from August Wilson’s play, the film follows a conflict within the Charles family over an heirloom piano. The instrument was carved by an enslaved ancestor, and the dispute connects family inheritance to the history embodied in the object. For readers interested in the story’s origins, Wilson’s play is the source text (publisher information for The Piano Lesson).
Spellbound — November 22
This animated family adventure follows a young girl trying to save her parents after a spell transforms them into monsters. It is the clearest family-viewing choice among the six, built around a magical rescue rather than adult drama or romance.

What “Netflix in November” means now
These dates describe U.S. Netflix arrivals in November 2024; they do not establish that the films remain available there—or in another country—today. Netflix says its originals typically release globally at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, while titles that are not originals in a particular country may follow local release times. Catalog rights and availability vary by market and change over time, so search Netflix in your country for current access and timing: Netflix’s release-time and availability guidance.
The dates and descriptions for Netflix originals such as Emilia Pérez, Hot Frosty and The Piano Lesson also appear in Netflix’s fall 2024 guide. Netflix’s official Emilia Pérez page lists the film as a 2024 drama featuring original songs and dance. For the full six-film selection and its original context, see BGR’s November 2024 list.
