Which release fits what you want to watch?
For a scripted period romance: Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Arriving May 4 in the roundup, this six-episode prequel follows young Queen Charlotte’s marriage to King George in the Bridgerton universe. Netflix identifies Shonda Rhimes as the series’ creator. It is the pick for viewers seeking a scripted historical romance rather than a reality dating format. See Netflix’s title page and About Netflix’s series description.
For matchmaking across the U.S. and Israel: Jewish Matchmaking
BGR listed the unscripted series for May 3, describing singles in the United States and Israel working with matchmaker Aleeza Ben Shalom. Choose it for a real-life matchmaking premise rather than a scripted romance.
#1 Best Overall
For a Japanese relationship reality series: Love Village
The May 2 entry is a Japanese reality series featuring participants aged 35 and older who enter the experience hoping to find a marriage partner. Its setting and older cast distinguish it from the U.S.-and-Israel matchmaking focus of Jewish Matchmaking.
For undercover action: AKA
BGR described AKA as already streaming by April 29, 2023. The French-language action thriller centers on a special-operations agent who goes undercover in a criminal organization and befriends the boss’s young son. It offers a change of pace from the week’s relationship-centered series.
Rank #2
For a familiar comedy film: Kindergarten Cop
The roundup said the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy would arrive May 1. Unlike the other four entries, it is a catalog film, not a new series.

“Next week” referred to the May 1–4, 2023 window in BGR’s April 29 article. These are historical dates, not a recommendation that the titles are newly arriving now. The roundup reflects a U.S.-oriented slate; the evidence does not establish identical May 2023 availability in every country.
