What the new Clueless series is—and isn’t
Paramount+ describes the project as a “sequel event series.” It continues Cher’s story after the original film rather than retelling the film as a remake. The series was greenlit on July 30, 2026. Paramount Press Express and Paramount+ both use the sequel framing.

What happens to Cher
The announced premise places the story about 30 years after the film. Cher has become successful in business and motherhood; when her daughter reaches high school, parenting becomes less predictable and Cher feels “clueless” again. The announcement does not identify the daughter or describe further plot details.
Who is making the series
Silverstone returns as Cher and is an executive producer. Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss are writing and executive-producing. Original Clueless writer-director Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence are also executive producers. CBS Studios is producing the series. Paramount’s announcement lists these roles.

When and where it will be filmed—and when it may stream
Filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. That is a production plan, not a release date: Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date. The service says the series will stream globally and exclusively on Paramount+. The reviewed official announcements do not give an episode count or announce other cast members.

Paramount’s 2026 announcement notes that the original film reached its 30th-anniversary milestone in summer 2025 and was recently added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Jane Wiseman, Paramount+ Head of Originals, called the project’s return “Clueless is coming home.” These are context for the announcement, not a release schedule.
