Dragon Ball DAIMA brings Super Saiyan 4 Goku into a climactic battle with Gomah, roughly 28 years after Dragon Ball GT first aired. The matchup recalls GT’s Shadow Dragons storyline, but the available episode and series sources do not establish that DAIMA is Goku’s first Super Saiyan 4 victory since that arc—or that DAIMA and GT share continuity.
When does Goku turn Super Saiyan 4 in DAIMA?
Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 4 in episode 19, during his fight with King Gomah. ORICON reported the episode’s transformation on February 21, 2025, the day it aired. ORICON’s episode 19 report also notes that Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan 3 in the same episode.
The transformation follows a rapid escalation in the final stretch. In the Dragon Ball Official Site’s February 8, 2025 climax announcement, King Gomah obtains the Evil Third Eye—called the Tertian Oculus on the English page—in episode 16 and becomes Third Eye Gomah. The site says Goku reaches Super Saiyan 3 at the end of episode 17, as the group struggles against Gomah’s power.
Who does Super Saiyan 4 Goku fight?
He fights Gomah, who is empowered by the Evil Third Eye. The official episode recap describes Gomah’s transformation into Third Eye Gomah, while ORICON identifies Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 appearance as part of the battle with King Gomah.

DAIMA’s premise sets the conflict in motion with Goku and his companions turned small through a conspiracy and drawn into the Demon Realm. Toei Animation announced the series’ Japanese premiere for October 11, 2024, and credited Akira Toriyama with its original concept, story, and character designs. Toei Animation’s DAIMA announcement provides that premise and production context.
Is DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 4 the same as GT’s?
The two appearances can be compared as Super Saiyan 4 portrayals, but the sources cited here do not establish that the series share continuity or that the transformations have identical status in the story. Toei’s catalog lists Dragon Ball GT as a 1996 series with 64 episodes and DAIMA as a 2024 series with 20 episodes. Those dates make “28 years later” a rounded comparison between broadcast eras, not an exact interval between two verified Super Saiyan 4 victories. Toei Animation USA’s series catalog lists the episode counts and years.

The Shadow Dragons connection is therefore best treated as a framing for the comparison, not a confirmed win-and-loss chronology. The available episode reporting confirms DAIMA’s Gomah battle and transformation, but does not trace every intervening Super Saiyan 4 appearance or result. It supports saying that DAIMA brings the form back for a major fight; it does not independently prove this is Goku’s first Super Saiyan 4 win since the Shadow Dragons.
What the DAIMA Super Saiyan 4 design depicts
The official Dragon Ball site announced a Figuarts ZERO [EXTRA BATTLE] figure of “Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku -DAIMA-” on January 22, 2026. The figure recreates Goku facing Giant Gomah and unleashing a Kamehameha, translating the late-series confrontation into a collectible display scene. The official product announcement confirms the product and depicted moment; it does not establish current retailer stock or pricing.
