He adopted me when I was four years old.” In a 1999 WIRED interview, Jeff said he had never met Jorgensen and described Mike as his natural father “as far as I’m concerned.” WIRED reported that Jeff learned about his biological parentage when he was 10.

It calls the migration “Operation Peter Pan.”

The 1999 WIRED interview says he arrived in the United States in 1962 at age 15; Jeff’s later testimony and Amazon’s account say he was 16. The sources agree that he came from Cuba as a teenager, but the exact age is not consistent across them.
Did Jeff Bezos’s parents invest in Amazon?
Yes. Jeff’s 2020 congressional testimony says the initial startup capital for Amazon.com came primarily from his parents, who invested a large fraction of their life savings. He said he warned them that he thought there was a 70% chance they would lose the investment, but they backed him because they believed in their son. Those amounts and odds are Jeff’s account of the decision, not an independently audited investment figure.
