The family relationships named in coverage place Marielle and Alana as Mohamed Hadid’s daughters with Mary Butler, and Gigi, Bella and Anwar as his children with Yolanda Hadid. The sisters’ statement is the basis for the public confirmation; it does not establish every private circumstance surrounding the adults’ relationship.
How did Nix learn about the biological connection?
According to the sisters’ statement, Nix took a genetic test after the death of the man she had known as her father and learned of a biological connection to Mohamed Hadid. Biography.com reproduced the statement’s account that Mohamed, while single, had a brief relationship more than 20 years earlier that led to a pregnancy. The statement does not provide further detail about the adults’ private history.

When did she first connect with the Hadid siblings?
Gigi and Bella said they first connected with Nix in late 2023. They wrote, “We first connected in late 2023, and from that moment on, we’ve embraced Aydan with open arms.” In announcing the relationship publicly on May 30, 2025, they asked people to respect Nix’s and her family’s privacy and her wish for anonymity.
What has Nix said about joining the family?
In a personal essay for The Cut, summarized by Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan in January 2026, Nix described her siblings and the rest of the family as welcoming. She also wrote about the sadness of not having grown up alongside them: “I was grieving the childhood I would never have with five siblings I didn’t grow up with.”
She described the welcome she received this way: “My sisters (along with the rest of the family) have been nothing but warm and generous. They have made space for me in ways they didn’t have to. They’ve been kind.” The two feelings belong together in her account: gratitude for the relationships she is building and grief for the shared experiences she missed.
What did Nix study, and what does she do?
Education and reported experience
ELLE reported in May 2025 that Nix graduated from Parsons School of Design that month with a BFA in Integrated Design. The outlet described experience and interests spanning editorial styling, branding, cultural storytelling, styling and showroom work, and vintage sales.
Fashion work she has described
In the personal essay covered by Marie Claire, Nix wrote that she closed Desigual’s fashion show in Barcelona in September 2025. She also wrote that she began assisting stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson after Gigi introduced them. These details document specific fashion work; they do not establish a continuing role or permanent relationship with either Desigual or Karefa-Johnson.

The public account establishes the family’s confirmation, the discovery and first-contact details the sisters chose to share, and Nix’s own reflections and reported education and fashion work.
