Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused Fox News host Jesse Watters of sexualizing and sexually harassing her after a producer invited her to appear on Jesse Watters Primetime outside the U.S. Capitol on January 7, 2026. She pointed to Watters’s October 2025 remark on The Five that she wanted to sleep with Stephen Miller. The accusation is Ocasio-Cortez’s characterization; the reports document what she said and the remark she cited, but do not establish a legal or workplace finding of harassment.
What happened outside the Capitol
A producer for Jesse Watters Primetime approached Ocasio-Cortez in Washington on January 7, 2026, and invited her to appear on the Fox News program. She initially replied, “That’s nice.” When asked whether she would join, she said Watters had sexualized and sexually harassed her on his show and had used “horrific, sexually exploitative” rhetoric.
The producer disputed her claim. Ocasio-Cortez replied that Watters had accused her of wanting to sleep with Stephen Miller, asked what the producer thought was acceptable to say to a woman, and walked away. TheWrap identified the inviter as a Jesse Watters Primetime producer; Mediaite named him as Johnny Belisario. TheWrap’s account of the exchange and Mediaite’s report describe the encounter.
What remark did Ocasio-Cortez cite?
The remark was made during an October 2025 episode of The Five, in a discussion about whether MAGA men were insulted by Ocasio-Cortez. According to The Daily Beast, Watters said: “No, I think AOC wants to sleep with Miller. It is so obvious. I’m sorry, you can’t have him.” He then praised Miller, calling him a “high value” man who was brave, confident, and “on a mission,” and said such men “have younger wives with beautiful children.” Co-host Greg Gutfeld responded, “I don’t know man, that was pretty creepy.”

These are quotations reported by The Daily Beast from the broadcast; the reporting available here does not include an independently reviewed primary transcript or footage. The Daily Beast’s report on Watters’s remark provides the account Ocasio-Cortez invoked.
Did Ocasio-Cortez agree to appear on the show?
No. She declined the invitation in the Capitol exchange and reiterated her refusal in a post dated January 8, 2026: “You can either be a pervert or ask me to be on your little show. Not both. Good luck!” TheWrap and Mediaite both reported the post.

What is established—and what is not
The contemporaneous accounts establish that Ocasio-Cortez made the accusation in response to the invitation and identified Watters’s comment about Stephen Miller as the basis for it. They do not adjudicate whether the remark meets a legal or workplace definition of harassment, and the material reported here does not establish a formal complaint or legal proceeding.
TheWrap reported that Fox News representatives had not commented by Wednesday evening; The Daily Beast said the network had not immediately returned a request for comment. Those descriptions reflect the status of reporters’ inquiries when the stories were published, not proof that the network never responded. The reports cited here do not establish a later statement from Watters.
