Alex Rodriguez’s publicly reported dating history includes his marriage to Cynthia Scurtis, reported relationships with Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz, and his long-term relationship and engagement to Jennifer Lopez. A frequently repeated connection to Madonna belongs in a separate category: it was a rumor that was denied, not a confirmed relationship.
Alex Rodriguez’s relationships, in chronological order
2002–2008: Marriage to Cynthia Scurtis
Rodriguez married Cynthia Scurtis in 2002, and their marriage ended in divorce in 2008. They have two daughters, Natasha and Ella. ELLE’s timeline and Vanity Fair’s profile provide this family context. ELLE’s relationship timeline also recounts the marriage and divorce.
2008: The Madonna rumor
Madonna’s name surfaced in public discussion around Rodriguez’s marital split, but the accounts cited by CBS News, Entertainment Tonight and Vanity Fair describe a rumor and report denials; they do not establish that the two had a relationship. For that reason, Madonna should not be counted as a confirmed former partner. CBS News and Entertainment Tonight recount the story, while Vanity Fair provides additional context.
2009: Kate Hudson
Retrospective entertainment coverage reports that Rodriguez and Kate Hudson dated for several months in 2009. Hudson was seen at Yankees games, a public detail that helped fuel coverage at the time; it is not, by itself, confirmation of private relationship details. The dates and brief duration are described retrospectively by CBS News and Entertainment Tonight.

2010–2011: Cameron Diaz
Retrospective entertainment reports place Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz in a relationship around 2010–2011. The sources cited here do not provide direct confirmation from either person, so the careful description is that they were reported to have dated—not that the relationship was publicly confirmed. CBS News and Entertainment Tonight include the pairing in their retrospectives.
2017–2021: Jennifer Lopez
Contemporary coverage reported that Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez were dating by March 2017. MLB.com’s March 2017 report documented the emerging relationship; ELLE’s timeline recounts its public milestones, including their engagement in March 2019 and their split in March 2021.
Rank #2
In announcing their separation, Lopez and Rodriguez said, “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so.” TIME reproduced the sentence from their joint statement; it was not an interview quote. TIME’s account includes the statement, and ELLE’s timeline places the split in March 2021.

- Confirmed public milestones: Lopez and Rodriguez were publicly linked by 2017, became engaged in 2019, and announced their separation in 2021.
- Rumor, not a confirmed relationship: The Madonna story was denied and should not be presented as a proven romance.
This account is limited to relationships supported by the cited reporting. Other names sometimes included in broader lists, including Torrie Wilson and Anne Wojcicki, are not added here because the available sources do not establish enough detail to responsibly date or characterize those connections.
