Spoilers: A Minecraft Movie has two credits scenes. The mid-credits scene gives Marlene and the Nitwit a comic romantic payoff; the final scene introduces Alex, a major character from the game, when Steve returns to his old home. Director Jared Hess called Alex “a whole other fun chapter” the filmmakers would be excited about—but that is not confirmation that a sequel is in development.
What happens in the two credits scenes?
The scenes have different jobs: one closes a character storyline, while the other hints at a possible next chapter for the film’s world.

| Mid-credits | Marlene and the Nitwit face Marlene’s ex-husband, Clemente. The Nitwit speaks, and the scene reveals that he and Marlene are engaged. Matt Berry voices the Nitwit. | A comic payoff to Marlene’s unlikely cross-dimensional romance. |
| After the main credits | Steve returns to his former home to retrieve belongings. A red-haired woman answers the door and identifies herself as Alex. Her face remains concealed. | An introduction of a major Minecraft game character into the film’s story world, and a tease of a possible future story. |
The scene descriptions and character details were reported by Yahoo Entertainment; SlashFilm also covered the Alex reveal.
Who is Alex in the post-credits scene?
Alex is a major character recognizable from the Minecraft game. The film’s final credits scene does not show her face: Steve’s visit and her introduction establish that she has arrived in the movie’s world, but do not reveal who plays her. The surprise is the character’s appearance in the story, not a confirmed casting announcement.

What did director Jared Hess say about Alex?
Asked about the reveal, director Jared Hess kept the performer’s identity mysterious and said: “That character, that’s a whole other fun chapter we’d be excited about.” The remark expresses interest in exploring Alex; it does not establish that another film has been approved. Yahoo Entertainment’s interview report also quotes Mojang content head Torfi Frans Ólafsson describing the adaptation’s approach: “I think the principle that we had is that we kind of start familiar, and then expand.”
Does the Alex cameo confirm a sequel?
No. Alex’s introduction is a sequel tease, but a character setup is not the same as an official announcement. SlashFilm reported on April 7, 2025, that no sequel had been announced at that time and treated reports about Alex’s voice casting as unconfirmed. The cited coverage does not establish a later sequel announcement or confirmed performer, so neither should be inferred from the scene or Hess’s comment.

Should you stay through the credits?
Yes, if you want both the Marlene–Nitwit resolution and Alex’s introduction. The first scene is a payoff to the film’s romantic subplot; the later one plants a broader franchise possibility without promising that it will happen.
