For September 24–30, 2026, these seven feature films are the strongest picks among the dated streaming additions verified here: a mix of animation, horror, drama and a recent Hulu arrival. “New” means newly added to a service in this roundup, not necessarily a 2026 theatrical release. The verified subscription picks are on Hulu and Netflix; availability can differ by country.
Seven movies to put on your watch list
The selection favors confirmed feature films and a useful range of viewing moods, rather than claiming an objective ranking. Hulu’s official September schedule and Netflix’s dated guide establish the additions; they do not establish a ranking across services.
| Movie | Added | Service and access | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Last Whale Singer (2026) | September 24 | Hulu; listed on its schedule as an addition | A newly arriving 2026 feature. Hulu’s schedule passage does not give a synopsis, so there is not enough verified detail here to describe its story or genre. |
| The Plague (2025) | September 25 | Hulu; listed on its schedule as an addition | A 2025 feature newly available on Hulu. The schedule confirms the date and title but does not supply a synopsis. |
| The Final Problem | September 25 | Netflix; included in its September 25 guide | A Netflix guide-listed movie option. Check the title’s Netflix page for a synopsis and local availability before choosing it; the guide citation establishes the entry, not further plot details. |
| UNABOMBER | September 25 | Netflix; included in its September 25 guide | Netflix describes this drama as inspired by true events. The description makes it a fit for viewers looking for a dramatization, not a documentary account. |
| Mononoke The Movie: Chapter III – The Curse of the Serpent | September 29 | Netflix; included in its September 25 guide | The story enters the Ōoku, where tragedy and human passions bring the Medicine Seller face to face with an opponent. |
| Jujutsu Kaisen 0 | September 30 | Hulu; subbed and dubbed versions listed | A feature-length anime option, with subtitled and dubbed versions identified in Hulu’s schedule. Choose the version that suits your preference. |
| One of them Days | September 30 | Hulu; listed on its schedule as an addition | A Hulu catalog addition for the final day of the window. The cited schedule does not include a synopsis, so confirm its premise and suitability on Hulu. |
How to interpret “new” this week
These dates refer to streaming additions, not a claim that all seven films are new releases. A movie can be newly released, make its streaming debut, or simply arrive on a service’s catalog; those are different milestones. For example, The Plague is identified as a 2025 film, while The Last Whale Singer is dated 2026. The listed dates are service additions.
The clearest checks are the platforms’ own schedules: Hulu’s September 2026 schedule and Netflix’s September 25 guide. Netflix’s guide is dated September 25 and includes its September 29 film entry; Hulu’s schedule lists additions across the full window.

Not every streaming entry is a movie
Double-check format when scanning weekly lists. Hulu’s September 24 schedule also includes American Horror Story: 13, but Disney identifies it as a three-episode series premiere, not a feature film. Netflix’s The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part is described by Tom’s Guide as a true-crime documentary, not one of the seven fiction-film picks above. A documentary can be a movie, but that title is an episodic documentary entry rather than a feature-film pick for this list.
For a quick watch tonight, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the most explicit choice if you want anime and a choice of dub or subtitles; UNABOMBER is the identified drama inspired by true events; and Mononoke The Movie is the described pick for an animated story set in the Ōoku. The cited schedules do not provide enough plot detail to make equally specific recommendations for every title.

Subscription streaming is not the same as a rental
The seven titles above are listed as additions to Hulu or Netflix schedules, rather than being presented here as paid video-on-demand rentals. Late-September VOD coverage separately identifies The Uprising, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie and Coyote vs. Acme as VOD options; a rental or purchase should not be mistaken for a title included with a streaming subscription. CinemaBlend’s late-September streaming and VOD roundup distinguishes those options.

Streaming catalogs and launch dates can vary by territory, and the listed date is not a guarantee that a title appears in every country. The Amazon September schedule is explicitly for U.S. availability; use the service’s local app or website to verify a title in your region. Amazon’s September schedule also illustrates why a U.S. schedule should not be treated as a worldwide catalog.
