If the mix of summer romance, family ties and coming-of-age drama in The Summer I Turned Pretty is what you love, start with My Life with the Walter Boys for a similar romantic triangle—or choose one of the six alternatives below for a different tone, setting or kind of first-love story. The series follows Belly’s relationships with Conrad and Jeremiah during summers at Cousins Beach; Amazon describes it as an adaptation of Jenny Han’s book trilogy and lists three seasons, with its third season released in 2025. Amazon’s season-three coverage says the final season has 11 episodes.
Seven shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty, depending on what you want next
These shows share pieces of the appeal—teen romance, complicated relationships, grief, close-knit communities or nostalgia—but they are not interchangeable. Pick by the element you most want to keep.
| Show | Best match for | What’s different |
|---|---|---|
| My Life with the Walter Boys | A love triangle involving two brothers, plus grief and adjustment | Its story begins with Jackie moving after a family loss. |
| Heartstopper | Tender first love and LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age stories | A gentler central romance rather than the same triangle setup. |
| Gilmore Girls | Small-town rhythms, seasonal atmosphere and family relationships | More conversational and comic, with a different age range. |
| Dawson’s Creek | Friend-group drama, romantic entanglements and 1990s nostalgia | An older, longer-running teen drama. |
| One Tree Hill | Romantic angst, an ensemble cast and a prominent soundtrack | Nine seasons make it a bigger time commitment. |
| XO, Kitty | Another Jenny Han story, with a distinct South Korean setting | It follows Kitty from a younger-sibling perspective. |
| Never Have I Ever | Teen angst, grief, humor and a love triangle | Its comic tone makes it a lighter, more humorous alternative. |
1. My Life with the Walter Boys: for the closest love-triangle match
For viewers looking for a familiar emotional structure, this is the most direct next watch: Jackie moves after a family loss and develops feelings for two brothers. That combination of grief, teenage romance and competing attachments echoes the emotional ingredients of Belly’s story without making the shows identical. Choose it if the triangle is the part you most want to revisit; expect a story shaped by relocation and family adjustment.
2. Heartstopper: for a gentler first-love story
Heartstopper centers LGBTQIA+ characters and relationships in a tender high-school coming-of-age romance. It suits viewers who want the vulnerability and uncertainty of young love, but not another show built around a love triangle. Its appeal is sweetness and emotional openness rather than the push and pull among Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah.

- Official Merchandise from The Summer I Turned Pretty
- Amazon Original Series on Prime Video
- 16” x 16” bag with two 14” long and 1” wide black cotton webbing strap handles.
- Made of a lightweight, spun polyester canvas-like fabric.
- All seams and stress points are double-stitched for durability, and the reinforced bottom flattens to fit more items and hold larger objects.
3. Gilmore Girls: for cozy small-town atmosphere
If Cousins Beach’s seasonal rhythms and close relationships matter more to you than a teen romance alone, try Gilmore Girls. Its draw is a cozy, talk-driven small-town world, mother-daughter bonds and romantic entanglements. The age range differs, and the comic, conversational tone is a clear shift from the beachside coming-of-age drama.
4. Dawson’s Creek: for friendship, romance and 1990s nostalgia
Dawson’s Creek offers a small-town setting, an enduring friend group and romantic triangles, making it a natural pick for viewers who enjoy watching relationships change over time. Its 1990s teen-drama sensibility and longer run give it a different feel from a contemporary summer romance. Choose it for nostalgia and ensemble relationships, not a replica of the Cousins Beach setting.

- Citrus Top Notes: This scent opens with a burst of bright citrus, featuring notes of Apricot, Clementine, and Cara Orange.
- Creamy, Nutty Middle Notes: The heart pairs gourmand and creamy notes of Coconut and Pistachio, softened by Cattleya Orchid.
- Woody and Warm Base Notes: The fragrance dries down to a woody and comforting base of Vanilla Bean, Blonde Wood, and Sunny Musk.
- Made for the Moment: Just Juice tracks in-demand moments in the world of fragrance and crafts unique, accessible scents for exploration. With simple, streamlined packaging, the trend-driven “juices” speak for themselves, like this summer-inspired fragrance, created in collaboration with Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty.
5. One Tree Hill: for a longer, angstier ensemble drama
For more romantic angst, tangled relationships and a prominent soundtrack, One Tree Hill expands the focus to a long-running ensemble. Its nine seasons are a substantial commitment compared with a three-season reference series. It works best if you want a larger world of connected characters and are ready for a longer binge.
6. XO, Kitty: for another Jenny Han story in a new setting
XO, Kitty is a spin-off of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, with Kitty at the center and a primarily Asian cast in a South Korean setting. Jenny Han’s connection makes it an easy option for fans of her storytelling, but its younger-sibling perspective and international setting distinguish it from Belly’s summers at Cousins Beach. Pick it for that authorial connection and a different coming-of-age vantage point, not for the same plot.

7. Never Have I Ever: for grief, humor and teen romance
Never Have I Ever blends teen angst, grief, humor and representation with a love triangle. Mindy Kaling is its showrunner, according to the JustWatch guide. It is a good choice if you want romantic uncertainty alongside a more comic approach to adolescence and loss.

Streaming catalogs vary by country and change over time. JustWatch’s US guide, updated May 13, 2026, recorded availability checks for its listed titles on October 6–7, 2026; it reported six of the titles it covered available on Netflix at that time. That is a dated US snapshot, not a promise of availability in another region or on a later date. Search your local streaming guide before settling on a watch.
