Netflix’s announced April 2025 movie schedule included six films arriving between April 1 and April 25: animated adventure, crime drama, two comedies, and two action thrillers. The dates below reflect the U.S.-oriented schedule reported by BGR on March 30, 2025—not a guide to what is available on Netflix today. Catalog rights for licensed films can differ by region.
April 1: Two very different stories
The Croods
This animated adventure comedy follows a prehistoric family trying to survive as the world around them changes. Its voice cast includes Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds. It was listed for April 1 in BGR’s roundup; that reported date should not be taken as confirmation of availability in every Netflix region.
The Place Beyond the Pines
This crime drama links three stories across time: a stunt rider turns to crime to support his family, a police officer confronts corruption, and two troubled teenagers face the consequences years later. BGR listed the film for April 1, with regional availability for this licensed title not independently established.
April 9: Workplace friction in The Hating Game
Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell star in this 2021 romantic comedy as coworkers whose companies merge, leaving them to work together despite their mutual dislike. The film adapts Sally Thorne’s novel The Hating Game. BGR reported an April 9 Netflix date; the date may not apply to every territory.

April 16: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in Baby Mama
In this 2008 comedy, Tina Fey plays Kate Holbrook, a businesswoman who wants to become a mother, and Amy Poehler plays Angie Ostrowski, the surrogate. BGR included it for April 16 in its April schedule; region-specific Netflix availability was not independently established.
April 23: A runaway train in Bullet Train Explosion
This Japanese action thriller, directed by Shinji Higuchi, reimagines the 1975 film The Bullet Train. Its central danger is stark: a bomb will detonate if the train slows below 100 km/h. Netflix announced the April 23, 2025 premiere in a March 4 teaser announcement and reiterated the date on April 1. Netflix’s teaser announcement describes the film and its premise.
April 25: Tom Hardy in Havoc
Written and directed by Gareth Evans, this action thriller follows a bruised detective forced into the criminal underworld after a drug deal goes wrong, as he tries to rescue a politician’s estranged son and untangle corruption across the city. Netflix’s U.S. Media Center listing gave the release date as April 25, 2025, at 7:00 a.m. GMT. Netflix’s official listing provides the film’s logline and release details.
Netflix later reported that Havoc reached No. 1 on its English films list in the week-of-April-21 report published April 29, 2025, with 29.8 million views for that reporting period. That is a historical weekly figure, not a measure of current viewership. Netflix Tudum’s weekly Top 10 report has the period-specific ranking.

Choose by genre—or by the date
| Film | Reported April 2025 date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| The Croods | April 1 | Animated family adventure comedy |
| The Place Beyond the Pines | April 1 | Interconnected crime drama |
| The Hating Game | April 9 | Workplace romantic comedy |
| Baby Mama | April 16 | Comedy about motherhood and surrogacy |
| Bullet Train Explosion | April 23 | Japanese action thriller |
| Havoc | April 25 | Crime-focused action thriller |
The first four dates come from BGR’s March 30, 2025 roundup; Netflix’s announcements corroborate the dates for Bullet Train Explosion and Havoc. The roundup does not provide a consistent set of runtimes, age ratings, or review scores, so this list is best used to narrow choices by premise and genre rather than compare those measures.
