Collider’s ranking of the 50 funniest action movies of the 21st century puts The Suicide Squad (2021) first, followed by Hot Fuzz (2007), The Nice Guys (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), according to Parade’s July 23, 2026 report. The complete ranking and Collider’s reasoning are not available in that report, so this account covers only the five positions it confirms.
Collider’s reported top five
Parade reports the following order from Collider’s 50-film list. This is an editorial ranking, not a measured verdict about which film audiences will find funniest.
-
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Parade identifies James Gunn’s superhero action-comedy as Collider’s number-one pick. Its placement makes it the list’s top choice, but the report does not provide Collider’s explanation for the ranking.
-
Hot Fuzz (2007)
The second-place film brings action and comedy together in the buddy-cop tradition. Rotten Tomatoes includes it among notable action-comedies, though that guide is a separate critic-aggregation list.

What makes an action-comedy funny?
Action-comedy is a hybrid rather than a single comic style. The humor may come from partner banter, physical gags, parody, deadpan delivery, satire, or absurdism; action can center on martial arts, stunts, chases, crime, superheroes, or animation. The strongest fit for the genre is a film where both action and humor are substantial pleasures, not an action drama with only occasional jokes.
Rotten Tomatoes’ guide offers a useful overview of the genre’s lineage, including buddy-cop movies, Jackie Chan’s action comedies, and films such as Hot Fuzz, Tropic Thunder, Kung Fu Hustle, 21 Jump Street, Bad Boys for Life, The Suicide Squad, Deadpool, and Free Guy. That guide ranks 50 Certified Fresh action-comedies using critic aggregation; it is not the same list as Collider’s comedy-forward ranking. Read Rotten Tomatoes’ action-comedy guide.

How to read the ranking
“Funniest” is a matter of taste. The reported top five span superhero spectacle, buddy-cop comedy, crime action, and absurdist multiverse storytelling, so viewers drawn to different comic modes may order them differently. Parade’s account confirms the list’s stated size and its first five entries, but does not publish a complete ranking, scoring system, author rationale, or the remaining 45 titles. Those details should not be inferred from the top five.
Streaming availability is a separate, time-sensitive question: it varies by country and can change. Check a current local listing for the particular film you want to watch.
