After Griselda, start with Narcos for the closest match in cartel subject matter and creative-team connections. The other picks shift the focus: Narcos: Mexico extends the cartel-drama thread, Ozark puts a family inside a money-laundering scheme, and Queen of the South follows a protagonist’s rise in the drug trade. “Like Griselda” can mean shared subject matter, familiar creative talent, a crime-boss rise, or a different kind of crime story.
Griselda is a Netflix limited crime drama based on real life and set in 1980s Miami. The series is fictionalized, so its scenes and character portrayals should not be treated as verified biography. Netflix titles and category listings vary by country and can change; check your local Netflix catalog before choosing.
1. Narcos: the closest creative and subject-area match
Narcos is the strongest first choice if you want another cartel-centered crime saga and a direct connection behind the camera. Netflix says Griselda co-creator Eric Newman previously served as showrunner on Narcos, while director Andrés Baiz directed Narcos as well as all six episodes of Griselda. Netflix also lists Narcos in its TV crime-drama category.
That overlap makes Narcos more than a thematic substitute: it shares key creative personnel with Griselda. Netflix’s [Media Center page for Griselda] identifies the series’ creative team and episode count, and its [Tudum feature on the series’ real-life basis] discusses the team’s approach to a fictionalized story.

2. Narcos: Mexico: more cartel drama, a different setting
If you want to stay with cartel-centered crime drama, try Narcos: Mexico. Newman was its showrunner, and Netflix Tudum discusses the series alongside the Griselda creative team. That makes it a natural follow-up for viewers drawn to the production connection as well as the subject matter.
It is a companion recommendation, not a direct sequel to Griselda. Choose it for another organized-crime saga rather than for continuation of Griselda Blanco’s story.

3. Ozark: cartel money laundering through family stakes
Ozark changes the viewpoint. Instead of centering the rise of a crime boss, it follows a family caught up in cartel money laundering, making survival and financial crime the main angles. It suits viewers who want criminal stakes but are ready for a story focused more on a family under pressure than on a cartel figure’s ascent.
TIME described that premise in a May 2022 article recommending shows for viewers interested in Ozark-like themes. That supports the comparison of story angles, not current Netflix availability.

4. Queen of the South: another protagonist’s rise in the drug trade
Queen of the South offers a closer fit if what interested you in Griselda was a central character’s path through organized crime. Its story centers on Teresa Mendoza and her rise in drug trafficking, giving the list another protagonist-led drug-trade drama without presenting it as a continuation of Griselda.
TIME included the series among recommendations for viewers interested in themes like those in Ozark and describes its drug-trade premise. Check Netflix in your country for current availability.

Want a mystery instead? Try Who Killed Sara?
If cartel stories are not essential, Who Killed Sara? is a mystery-first alternative. Netflix describes Alex Guzmán as investigating his sister Sara’s death and the Lazcano family; the title also appears in Netflix’s TV crime-drama category. It shifts the narrative engine from an organized-crime saga to a death investigation.
For the premise, see [Netflix’s announcement about Who Killed Sara?]. You could swap it in for any of the four above if you value a central mystery more than the cartel and drug-trade throughline.
