Sony’s Polish site lists its release date as 20 June 2025. Sony’s official pages reviewed do not confirm that Cillian Murphy appears in the film as a zombie—or appears on screen at all.
When did 28 Years Later come out?
Sony’s Polish regional film page gives 28 Years Later a release date of 20 June 2025. That is the date Sony states for its Polish page, not a single worldwide date for every territory. Sony identifies the film as a 2025 horror release and currently lists it on Blu-ray and digital.

Sony Pictures’ film page describes a story set in the world of 28 Days Later, after the Rage Virus escaped a biological-weapons laboratory. Survivors live on an island connected to the mainland by a defended causeway; a journey to the mainland reveals dangers from both infected people and other survivors.
Does Cillian Murphy return as a zombie?
Sony’s official pages reviewed do not confirm that Murphy has an on-screen role in 28 Years Later, zombie or otherwise. Sony identifies him as Jim in the original 28 Days Later, but that connection alone is not evidence that Jim appears in this film.

Sony’s FAQ for the next installment, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, credits Murphy as an executive producer. An executive-producer credit is not confirmation of an acting appearance. The FAQ’s named ensemble includes Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry; it does not list Murphy among them. Accordingly, the claim that he returns as a zombie should not be treated as confirmed.
What is Murphy’s role in The Bone Temple?
Sony credits Murphy as an executive producer on its regional The Bone Temple page. Sony describes the film as the second installment in the new trilogy following 28 Years Later and says its story continues directly after the previous film. The central characters named in Sony’s FAQ are Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), Spike (Alfie Williams), and Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell); Nia DaCosta is the director and Alex Garland the writer.

Sony currently lists 28 Years Later on Blu-ray and digital and links to Amazon as a retailer. The listing does not establish a particular edition’s price, stock, or availability in every territory, so check the retailer’s live listing for those details. For 4K HDR playback, Sony says viewers need a compatible 4K UHD television with HDR, an Ultra HD Blu-ray player, and high-speed HDMI 2.0A cables.
