The black velvet tuxedo was notable from behind as well as from the front: its back was laced like a corset. A measuring-tape lapel detail reinforced the garment’s couture-minded construction. What defined the 2026 Grammys red carpet
The strongest looks did not all follow the same idea of glamour. Some leaned on familiar formal codes—Carpenter’s Old Hollywood romance, Dean’s ballgown volume, or Criss’s cravat—while others made construction or deliberate disruption the point, as with Eilish’s reworked materials, Roan’s Mugler reference, and Bad Bunny’s corseted tuxedo back. The range reflects a carpet where personal style could be polished, theatrical, or both. As fashion editor Halie LeSavage told the Associated Press, “But in this case, there’s a really strong field of best new artists nominees who … have created a really distinct sense of personal style.” Associated Press.
