Wedding entertainment can do more than fill the dance floor. A well-planned mix gives guests things to enjoy during the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception—whether they want to dance, play a game, watch a performer or simply chat. Here are 23 ideas, with practical notes on when each works best and what to check before booking.
How to choose wedding entertainment
Start with the parts of the day that need atmosphere or a natural activity. Ceremony music can welcome guests; a roaming act or lawn games can give cocktail-hour guests options; dinner activities can prompt conversation; and a band or DJ can lead the reception. Onstage Entertainment’s guide also organizes ideas by ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance floor: Onstage’s wedding entertainment ideas.
Choose a mix that suits the venue and the people attending. Not every guest wants to dance or perform, so include more than one way to join in—and leave room for guests who would rather watch or talk. Before booking or buying, check the schedule, space, sound limits, staffing, accessibility, venue rules and any local requirements. For rentals and staffed services, clarify delivery, setup, staffing and strike with the supplier; Abbey Road Entertainment describes these as part of its service considerations: Abbey Road Entertainment’s wedding services.
Music for the ceremony and reception
1. Ceremony musicians
Hire a solo musician or small ensemble for guest arrival and the ceremony. Discuss the procession, key cues and any break between the prelude and ceremony so the music supports the moment rather than competing with it.

A closing spectacle can give the day a defined final moment. Fireworks and other send-offs depend on venue permission and local requirements, so confirm what is allowed before committing and plan the timing and guest movement with the venue.
