The nominations themselves were not canceled: the union said they would be released the next morning through a press release and the SAG Awards website.
What was canceled—and what was not
The change affected the live, in-person presentation of the nominations, not the announcement or the awards ceremony. SAG-AFTRA said it acted “in an abundance of caution” for the safety of presenters, guests, and staff, citing wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles. Read SAG-AFTRA’s January 7 notice.
The nominees were announced on January 8 in an official release. That release still listed the ceremony for February 23, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall, with a global Netflix stream scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern / 5 p.m. Pacific. Those details were the schedule stated at the time, not an upcoming event. See the January 8 nominations release.
How the nominations were announced
SAG-AFTRA’s January 7 notice said the nominees would be unveiled at 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time on January 8 via press release and the SAG Awards website. The official nominations release was issued that day.
