It was a temporary convergence, not the start of a permanent simul-dub schedule. The Japanese broadcast had paused at that episode, and later English-dub releases followed on separate dates.
Did the One Piece English dub really catch up with the Japanese anime?
Yes—but only at a particular point in the schedule. Crunchyroll announced that English-dub episodes 1109–1122 would arrive on March 18, 2025. Episode 1122 was also the Japanese anime’s endpoint before its broadcast hiatus, so the dub reached the Japanese series’ then-current episode number while Japan was paused. Crunchyroll’s announcement gives the batch date, range and territories.

That is what “caught up” meant: both versions had reached episode 1122, not that the English dub had become a permanent same-day release. The title’s “18 years later” phrasing describes the milestone as popularized; the official announcements cited here do not establish the English dub’s debut date or independently verify an exact 18-year interval.
What happened after episode 1122?
The schedules diverged again. In February 2026, Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announced English-dub episodes 1144–1155 for March 24, 2026, describing the batch as completing the Egghead Arc in English. They also announced the Elbaph Arc’s Crunchyroll simulcast return for April 5, 2026. Those are distinct release announcements, not evidence that the dub and Japanese broadcast now move in lockstep. The February 2026 announcement names the dates and territories.

Toei separately announced that the anime would move to a two-cour production structure beginning in 2026, with up to 26 new episodes annually, after a January–March production hiatus. Series producer Ryūta Koike said the structure would allow episodes to incorporate more manga content, tempo and pacing while retaining animation-specific storytelling. This is a plan for the anime’s production cadence; it does not set an English-dub release schedule. Toei’s October 2025 release explains the change.
Where can viewers watch the English dub?
Crunchyroll is the platform named in the official announcements for these dubbed batches and the Elbaph simulcast. The March 2025 batch was announced for the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and Southeast Asia. The 2026 announcement names the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Availability can differ by territory, so check the service’s listing for your location rather than assuming every release is available worldwide.

Crunchyroll’s One Piece series page lists English and Japanese audio options, but the available catalog can vary by region. If the dub is not listed where you are, the Japanese audio version with subtitles may be available instead.

The anime is based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga. The manga is an alternative way to follow the story for readers who would rather not wait for an anime or dub release; it is not required to understand the series. The available official announcements establish the anime’s relationship to the manga, but do not make a claim about how far a particular print edition is available in your region. Toei’s series page identifies the manga as the source material.
