12. His nephew helped spark the prequel idea
In a 2017 interview with CBS News, Parsons said his production company was visiting his 10-year-old nephew in Texas. The boy was very smart, and Parsons thought he could be “a young Sheldon.”
13. He narrated and executive-produced the series
Parsons contributed to Young Sheldon behind the scenes as an executive producer and on the soundtrack as the narrator, CBS News reported in 2017.
14. He returned on camera for the finale

15. He played Tommy Boatwright in The Normal Heart
Parsons appeared in the 2011 Broadway revival and reprised the role in HBO’s 2014 film adaptation, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame biography.
16. He broke his foot during a performance of The Boys in the Band
In 2018, the injury led to the cancellation of a Saturday-night performance; an understudy took over the next day. Parsons planned to return wearing an orthopedic boot, TIME reported.

Why Parsons values the stories behind a show
In a statement presented on publisher Hachette’s page for Jessica Radloff’s oral history, Parsons explained why he supports extended conversations about a production and how it was made: “I’m reading Mike Nichols’s biography right now and you just love to go back and hear the stories about how it was made, because you felt something for the work. It moved you. It changed you in some way. And that’s a real honor.” The book is an oral history of The Big Bang Theory, not a Parsons autobiography: Hachette Book Group.
