Jessica Alba’s early career stretches from her first film appearance in Camp Nowhere in 1994 to her breakthrough as Max Guevara in Dark Angel, which premiered in fall 2000. This gallery is intended to follow that career arc—not to suggest that every photograph was taken in one year or at one age.

The 15 photographs were not supplied here, so their individual dates, settings, identities, credits, and reuse rights cannot be verified. Captions should describe only details established by the image’s archive record or another reliable source; a photo’s public availability does not itself grant permission to republish it.

Jessica Alba’s early-career timeline

Alba was born April 28, 1981, in Pomona, California. Biography.com identifies Camp Nowhere (1994) as her first film appearance and notes her recurring role on The Secret World of Alex Mack and work on the Australia-filmed remake of Flipper. Her leading role as Max Guevara in James Cameron’s science-fiction series Dark Angel became her breakthrough; the series premiered in fall 2000. Biography.com’s career and biography overview supplies this broad chronology, but it does not verify individual gallery photographs.

How to caption the 15 pictures

Identify each photograph from its own reliable record. A useful caption names the verified production or event, date or approximate year, location where documented, and photographer or archive credit. For example: “Jessica Alba at [verified event or production], [verified location], [date or year]. Photo: [photographer or archive].” Leave out any detail that cannot be substantiated; apparent age and fan-post captions are not reliable ways to date a photograph.

Keep production images distinct from public-event photographs. A premiere image is not an on-set photograph or a still from the series. Likewise, do not label an image as a scene from Camp Nowhere, The Secret World of Alex Mack, or Flipper unless the archive caption or another dependable record supports that identification.

What a documented Dark Angel premiere image establishes

Getty Images archive examples identify photographs of Alba at the Dark Angel premiere at the Directors Guild of America in West Hollywood on September 25, 2000; one listing credits photographer Steve W. Grayson and gives the same date as the image’s creation. These records demonstrate the kind of event and credit information a caption can provide, but they do not authenticate any particular picture in this gallery. See the Getty Images archive listings for those examples.

Attribution and permission are separate matters. Getty describes its example premiere images as rights-managed and says commercial or promotional uses require contacting a local Getty office. Check the current rights terms for each selected image and the specific intended use; do not treat a search preview or an existing online post as permission to republish it.
