There is no official WWE ranking of the best wrestlers of 2023. This editorial list weighs championship accomplishments, major match results, prominence across the year, and storyline significance. The order is an assessment, not a WWE designation; results below are grounded in WWE event reports, while “best” remains a judgment.
15. Sami Zayn
Zayn’s year was defined by his role in one of WWE’s most consequential stories. At the Royal Rumble, the Bloodline turned against him, making him central to the group’s fracture. He later joined the winning men’s WarGames team at Survivor Series. Those defining moments outweigh a year-end title accomplishment in this ranking, but his storyline impact earns him a place.
14. Jey Uso
Jey’s 2023 arc moved from a high-stakes clash with Roman Reigns to a championship partnership with Cody Rhodes. He lost Tribal Combat at SummerSlam, then teamed with Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles at Fastlane. He also competed on the winning men’s WarGames team at Survivor Series. The mix of story prominence, a major title win, and continued big-event involvement puts him above Zayn.
13. IYO SKY
Sky made the year’s most decisive Money in the Bank cash-in: at SummerSlam, she used the contract to defeat Bianca Belair and win the WWE Women’s Championship. That single defining achievement gives her a strong claim to the list, even though the event evidence cited here does not establish a broader run of 2023 title defenses.

12. LA Knight
Knight translated rising visibility into notable results. He won the SummerSlam battle royal and defeated The Miz at Payback. WWE’s Fastlane event listing also featured him in a tag match with John Cena against Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. His year’s biggest accomplishments were not a world-title win, but his marquee appearances and victories make him one of the strongest breakout candidates.
11. Gunther
Gunther’s case rests on sustained Intercontinental Championship credibility. WWE’s event reports record his title win over Mustafa Ali at Night of Champions, followed by successful defenses against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam and The Miz at Survivor Series. Those results give him a more substantial championship résumé than several names ranked below him.
Rank #2
- Roll down to the ring with the Lucha Low Rider vehicle.
- Includes a WWE Main Event Rey Mysterio action figure with advanced articulation.
- Recreate iconic entrances with the Lucha Low Rider hydraulics action.
- Rey Mysterio can enter the match with the vehicle's launching action.

10. Roman Reigns
Reigns had fewer documented major defenses in the event evidence used here than some of the wrestlers above him, but the stakes were exceptional. He retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble and against Jey Uso in Tribal Combat at SummerSlam. The Royal Rumble report also records the Bloodline’s turn against Sami Zayn, a pivotal storyline moment. His position reflects the importance of those defenses and his narrative prominence, balanced against the limited number of results cited.
9. Rhea Ripley
Ripley combined a Royal Rumble victory with a string of successful title defenses. She won the women’s Royal Rumble, defeated Zelina Vega at Backlash and Natalya at Night of Champions, retained against Raquel Rodriguez at Payback, and beat Zoey Stark at Survivor Series. The sequence gives her one of the clearest year-long championship records in this ranking.

8. Seth Rollins
Rollins became World Heavyweight Champion by defeating AJ Styles at Night of Champions, then defended the title against Finn Bálor and Shinsuke Nakamura. WWE’s event reporting also records a later Last Man Standing victory over Nakamura. A new world championship and multiple successful defenses make Rollins one of 2023’s most accomplished champions.
7. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes collected major wins across the calendar: he won the men’s Royal Rumble, defeated Brock Lesnar at Backlash and again at SummerSlam, and beat Dominik Mysterio at Money in the Bank. He capped the documented run by teaming with Jey Uso to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles at Fastlane. That breadth of marquee results, alongside sustained prominence, gives him one of the strongest overall cases.
Why these rankings are editorial
WWE’s event recaps establish the match outcomes and title changes cited here; they do not publish an authoritative top 15 for the year. The lower half of the list therefore reflects a consistent comparison of championship accomplishments, marquee wins, sustained prominence, and storyline significance—not an official score or statistical ranking.
