Its article names seven people; Swansea City’s own 2020 feature offers a wider, historical list, while BBC Sport separately reported an expression of support from Oprah Winfrey and share ownership by Mindy Kaling. The evidence ranges from match attendance and childhood allegiance to public messages and investment—different kinds of connection that should not be treated as equivalent.
Why the “11” count is misleading
The I Love Swansea City article, published March 17, 2022, has a headline that says “7 Celebrities That Are Swansea City Supporters.” Its introduction then says it has looked at 11 celebrities, but its body names only seven. The page does not substantiate the larger count, so 11 should not be read as a confirmed roster.
The seven people named in that article are Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Elis James, Brett Johns, Enzo Maccarinelli, Michael Sheen, and Jay Harris. The article uses “supposedly” in its framing; its list is a starting point for reported claims, not proof that each person is a current or equally committed supporter.
What Swansea City’s official feature says about its famous fans
In a June 24, 2020 feature, Swansea City described a broader set of people as famous fans and gave examples of their connections to the club. These are historical, club-attributed accounts, not a current census of who supports Swansea today.

The examples in the club feature span different kinds of evidence, including hometown or childhood allegiance, attending matches, holding a season ticket, wearing club colours, and public support. Those indicators can show a connection, but they do not all establish the same level of involvement or how recent it is.
Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling: support is not the same as ownership
BBC Sport’s March 14, 2018 report described a distinct Swansea connection involving Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey. Kaling said, “It is true that I own shares in Swansea.” That establishes reported share ownership, not that ownership alone makes her a long-standing or match-going supporter.

In the same report, Winfrey said she believed in Swansea after hearing about Kaling’s investment. Asked whether she was now a Swansea City fan, she replied, “There you go!” That is an attributed expression of support in that exchange; it should not be recast as evidence of years of fandom or regular attendance.

- Explicit statements: A person’s own quoted declaration or public message is direct evidence of expressed support, but may only describe a particular moment.
- Repeated attendance or a season ticket: These indicate a more sustained connection, when documented.
- Childhood or hometown allegiance: This can explain an affinity without proving current attendance or public involvement.
- Club apparel or colours: A shirt or club-colour appearance is a visible sign of association, but is not the same as a detailed self-description.
- Investment: Share ownership is a financial relationship; it should be distinguished from fandom unless the person also expresses support.
On that basis, the most accurate answer is not “here are 11 confirmed celebrity fans.” The 2022 article named seven, the club’s 2020 feature supplied a larger historical list with varying examples, and BBC Sport reported a separate one-time exchange of support alongside Kaling’s share ownership.
