For Christmas-season outings in Minneapolis–St. Paul in 2026, the clearest confirmed options are two free-entry holiday markets: the European Christmas Market at Union Depot in St. Paul and the Minneapolis Christkindl Market in the North Loop. Both list five weekends from November 20 through December 20. The other ideas below are useful seasonal plans, but their 2026–27 dates, schedules, and costs are not yet established by the available official pages.
1. Browse the European Christmas Market in St. Paul
The European Christmas Market returns to Union Depot East Plaza, 240 East Kellogg Blvd., for five weekends: November 20–22, November 27–29, December 4–6, December 11–13, and December 18–20, 2026. The outdoor market is free to enter, with food and drink vendors, crafts and gifts, children’s activities, and entertainment. Food and purchases cost extra; the official FAQ lists event parking at $10–$14, so check the market’s current parking information before setting out. Official market schedule · Market FAQ
Published regular hours are Friday 3–9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m. The FAQ identifies special hours for Friday, November 27, so verify that day’s schedule rather than assuming regular Friday hours apply. Because the plaza is outdoors, plan for winter conditions and consider warm layers and gloves.
2. Visit the Minneapolis Christkindl Market
At North Loop Green, 350 North 5th Street, the Minneapolis Christkindl Market lists the same five 2026 weekends: November 20–22, November 27–29, December 4–6, December 11–13, and December 18–20. Admission is free. The organizer describes more than 42 local vendors, European-style food and drinks, live music, dance, family activities, and Sunday Santa visits; the entertainment schedule is marked as forthcoming. Its published hours are Friday 4–9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–7 p.m. As at the St. Paul market, food and purchases are additional costs. Choose between the markets based on neighborhood, hours, and the activities you want; neither market’s published information establishes that it is better or more authentic than the other.

3. Look for holiday lights
A seasonal lights outing can be a neighborhood drive, a walk, or a visit to an organized display. Meet Minneapolis maintains a regional holiday lights guide, but the surfaced examples and dates are for the 2025–26 season, not confirmation of 2026–27 operators, schedules, or ticket prices. Use it to find leads, then check the display organizer’s current details before making a special trip. Meet Minneapolis holiday lights guide
4. See the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory Holiday Flower Show
The Holiday Flower Show at Como Park’s Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is an indoor seasonal option to keep on your list. Como’s official page documents the 2025–26 installation, which ran through January 4, 2026, but does not confirm the 2026–27 dates or details. Check the conservatory’s current page for this season’s schedule and visitor information before planning around it. Como Park Holiday Flower Show
5. Check for family holiday programming
Meet Minneapolis’s family guide has included prior-season tours and performances. Treat those listings as ideas, not as a current calendar: confirm the specific event, date, ticket terms, and age guidance with the venue or organizer. Meet Minneapolis family guide

6. Look for winter activities from Saint Paul Parks and Recreation
The city’s winter activities page is a place to check for municipal outdoor programming, but the available listing does not establish a complete current Christmas calendar. Look there for newly posted events and confirm details with the city before committing to a date. Saint Paul Parks and Recreation winter activities
7. Consider a holiday performance
Performances are a possible seasonal outing, but the available prior-season guides do not verify 2026–27 show calendars, prices, or seat availability. Once you find a production, use the presenting venue’s or organizer’s own page to confirm its dates, ticket terms, accessibility details, and any age recommendations. Meet Minneapolis family guide

8. Look for seasonal tours
Holiday tours appear in prior-season local guides, making them a lead for visitors who want a structured outing rather than a market visit. No current 2026–27 tour schedule or price is established here; check the tour operator’s listing for dates, reservations, route details, and cancellation policies. Meet Minneapolis family guide

If you would rather avoid a fixed ticket or schedule, build an evening around a walk or drive to lights once a current display map or organizer listing is available. The regional guide is a starting point, not proof that any particular display will operate this season. Confirm the address and dates directly, and account for weather and road conditions. 10. Pair a market with another attraction
The two markets share the same listed weekend dates, making it practical to choose one as an anchor and add an indoor attraction, performance, or other activity nearby. This is an itinerary idea, not a fixed package: check the second venue’s current hours, ticket requirements, location, and travel time before arranging the day.
11. Visit both markets on separate days
Since the Minneapolis and St. Paul markets list overlapping dates and free admission, visitors with time can make each one a separate outing. Their posted Sunday closing times differ, and the St. Paul market FAQ lists event parking prices; consult each organizer for current logistics and account for travel between the cities when planning.
Quick Recap
Plan around the details that can change
- Use the published 2026 market dates and hours as a starting point, then check the organizer’s page before traveling for schedule changes or special hours.
- For lights, the Como flower show, tours, performances, and other seasonal activities, confirm the 2026–27 calendar with the operator; prior-season listings are not current event confirmations.
- Check ticketing, parking, transit, accessibility, and weather-related updates directly with each venue or organizer.
