1. She grew up in Los Angeles with Mexican family roots
Demie is an actor and musician from Los Angeles. Vogue México describes her as having Mexican roots through her mother, a makeup artist from Michoacán who immigrated to Los Angeles. Demie has discussed this family background publicly; details beyond what she has chosen to share are not needed to understand her work.
2. Fashion was an early interest
Before acting became her main on-screen pursuit, Demie considered studying fashion in New York. In a 2019 interview, British Vogue presented fashion as one of several creative directions she was weighing. That interest sits alongside her later work in music and film rather than defining her career by itself.
3. Music has remained part of her creative life
Demie has pursued music alongside acting. Vogue México’s 2022 profile discusses the singles “Girl Like Me” and “Leopard Limo (Archive LL11)” and reports that music holds an important place in her creative life. Those releases are examples documented at that time, not a claim about her latest music.

4. Her screen career began before Euphoria
Demie appeared in independent films before her best-known television role. British Vogue notes her work in Jonah Hill’s Mid90s as a significant step before Euphoria; other film credits include Brigsby Bear. Her filmography also includes Waves and Mainstream. These selections show that her screen work was already developing across independent features before the series made Maddy a widely recognized character.
5. She weighed a focus on music before taking Euphoria
In the 2019 British Vogue interview, Demie said she had considered focusing on music before accepting the Euphoria role. That choice connected two ongoing interests rather than marking a clean switch from one art form to another: she continued to describe herself as both an actor and a musician.
6. She auditioned for Rue before being cast as Maddy
Demie’s route to Maddy was not a straightforward audition for that character. In an i-D interview, she said she auditioned for Rue, was later called back to read for Maddy, and eventually got the part. The account makes clear that the role emerged through the casting process, rather than being the character she initially went in to play.
7. Maddy became her breakout role, but Demie drew on more than imitation
Maddy Perez, the confident and highly styled teenager at the center of Euphoria, became Demie’s breakout role. Demie has described drawing on parts of her own teenage experience to play her. “She’s the girl that I easily could have ended up being,” she told British Vogue in 2019. The remark points to an emotional connection with the character, not an assertion that their lives or personalities are the same.

8. Her work outside Euphoria includes film and television
Demie’s credits beyond the series show her working in more than one format. Among the feature films are Waves, directed by Trey Edward Shults, and Mainstream, directed by Gia Coppola. She has also appeared in the television series Fantasmas. The list is representative, not exhaustive; the reference biography’s broader credit list is secondary rather than a primary record of her career.
9. She distinguishes herself from the character she plays
Demie has also been explicit that a close connection to Maddy does not make her identical to her. In the 2026 i-D interview, she said, “I’m not Maddy,” describing the character as a mask or shield. Read together with her earlier comments about drawing on teenage experience, that distinction helps avoid treating a scripted role as a guide to her private life.

10. Published sources disagree about her age
Exact age claims should be treated cautiously. Vogue México’s 2022 profile gives a birth date of 11 December 1994 and calls Demie 27 at publication, while a reference biography gives a conflicting range for her birth year. The reviewed sources therefore do not establish a settled birth date or age; it is more accurate not to state either as fact.
