There is no reliable, attributable evidence for a list of ten “ridiculously expensive” things Emma Watson bought. In interviews, she named a laptop, a Toyota Prius and a holiday with her father as early purchases; she described the car as sensible, and later said she had not done anything “decadent or mad” with her money.
What did Emma Watson say she bought?
In a 2009 Interview Magazine conversation with Derek Blasberg, Watson recalled buying a laptop, taking her father to Tuscany, and getting herself a car. She identified the car as a Prius and called it sensible and boring, adding that she liked it because it was good for the environment. She also said she had recently earned her driver’s license.
“I got myself a laptop. I took my dad to Tuscany. He works so hard, my dad, so I rang up his secretary and asked when he was free, and I booked us a holiday. What else? Oh, I got myself a car.”
The interview does not give prices, the laptop model, or the Prius model year. The holiday was a trip she arranged for her father, not a luxury item she bought for herself.

Which purchases did she describe as her most expensive?
A 2011 Glamour UK report said Watson identified the laptop and Toyota Prius as the most expensive things she had spent money on outside her education. The piece attributed the account to reporters and cited Digital Spy as its source; it does not establish purchase prices. Watson was quoted saying, “I have way too much money to know what to do with it.”
In a 2013 British GQ interview, she said, “I haven’t done anything decadent or mad with my money.” She again named a Prius and a laptop. These interviews support a small set of examples, not a ranked top ten, and they do not establish that either purchase was unusually expensive in absolute terms.
Did Emma Watson buy expensive homes?
No. In the same GQ interview, Watson said she rented a house in London and had rented in New York. Those statements describe renting, not buying property. Treating either home as one of her purchases would misstate what she said.
What about her coat, planner and fashion?
GQ also mentioned an expensive coat and a Smythson Soho planner, but the interview supplied no prices and did not present them as a list of major purchases. They cannot be ranked against the laptop or car from the available details.

In a 2020 British Vogue interview, Watson spoke about rewearing clothes, vintage fashion and liking Christy Dawn dresses and jumpsuits; she also named Good On You and TRAID. Those remarks establish reported preferences and practices, not proof that she bought particular pieces from those brands.
Likewise, Watson’s comments about Paris Hilton’s clothes were about what she saw while filming The Bling Ring, not about Watson’s own wardrobe purchases. In 2013, she told Radio Times she had about eight pairs of shoes; ABC News reported the remark as evidence of her low-bling lifestyle. Neither the film nor the shoe comment substantiates a ten-item shopping list.

What can be verified—and what cannot?
- Supported by her own accounts: a laptop, a Toyota Prius and a holiday she booked for her father.
- Described as major personal spending outside education: the laptop and Prius, according to Glamour’s 2011 report.
- Not established: exact prices, the laptop model, the Prius model year, a total spend, or ten extravagant purchases.
The evidence supports a restrained account of a few purchases Watson chose to discuss—not the headline’s promised list of ten expensive things.
