Mae Young is the oldest wrestler on this list: Betimate ranks her first at 87, based on age at a wrestler’s reported last WWE match. The ranking is a secondary source, not an official WWE record, and the available WWE profiles confirm selected longevity milestones rather than the full order.
How this ranking defines “oldest”
“Oldest wrestler to compete in WWE history” can mean several things: a wrestler’s age today, their age at any WWE appearance, or their age when they wrestled their last match for the company. This list follows the last-match measure used by Anna Ciao’s Betimate ranking, published January 10, 2025. Its ages and ordering should be read as that source’s reported figures, not as an officially verified WWE leaderboard. Betimate’s ranking does not establish a common method for deciding which appearances count as matches or how each age was calculated.

That distinction matters for historical records: WWE has used different names over time, and a televised appearance or special segment is not necessarily an in-ring match. The ranking is useful as a comparison, but its exact ages and final-match claims are not independently confirmed for every wrestler by the cited WWE material.

What makes the top entries stand out
Mae Young: a career across nine decades
Young leads Betimate’s ranking at 87. WWE’s profile says her professional career began in 1939 and that she competed in nine different decades, a remarkable span that provides official context for her longevity. For a specific late-career match, Pro Wrestling Stories reports that she faced LayCool on November 15, 2010, at 87 years and 248 days; that precise age and match detail come from the secondary account, not an official WWE age record. WWE’s Mae Young profile includes references to her appearances, including a 1999 match with Moolah.

Fabulous Moolah: an official octogenarian milestone
WWE says Moolah returned to its television in 1999 and faced Victoria on Raw for her 80th birthday in 2003, describing her as the first octogenarian to compete in a WWE ring. That establishes a well-documented age-80 milestone, but it does not by itself verify Betimate’s age-81 final-match entry. A separate wrestling-history article places a WWE tag match on September 21, 2004, when Moolah was 81 years and 61 days old. WWE’s Fabulous Moolah profile provides the official account of the age-80 appearance.
Jerry Lawler: a documented title challenge at 61
WWE’s profile says Lawler challenged The Miz for the WWE Championship at age 61. Betimate’s list instead places him fifth at 62 under its last-match criterion. Those figures refer to different claims; the age-61 title challenge does not independently establish when Lawler wrestled his last WWE match. WWE’s Jerry Lawler profile documents the title challenge.

How firmly should the ranking be treated?
The list is a snapshot of one published ranking, not a settled official record. WWE’s cited profiles support selected career and age milestones for Young, Moolah and Lawler. For Vince McMahon, Terry Funk, Ivory, Ric Flair, Steve Austin, Sting and The Undertaker, the ages and order here remain Betimate’s assertions in the available sources; exact last-match dates and age calculations are not independently established by those WWE pages.
A definitive comparison would need to use the same rules for every wrestler: confirm the final in-ring match included, establish the birth date used for the age calculation, and decide whether matches under the earlier WWF branding and special or cinematic bouts count. Without those consistent checks, the list is best read as a reported ranking rather than an audited record of the oldest WWE competitors.
