There is no independently verified ranking of the ten most successful inventions from the UK’s Dragons’ Den by revenue, profit or investor returns. The available evidence firmly documents only a small number of product stories, so presenting ten as a proven top ten would overstate what is known. Two well-supported examples are Reggae Reggae Sauce, which secured investment and a reported supermarket listing, and Magic Whiteboard, whose founders later bought back the Dragons’ shares. Tangle Teezer offers a contrasting story: Deborah Meaden later said the Dragons had turned it down and regretted the decision.
What counts as a successful Dragons’ Den invention?
This is an editorial selection, not a measured ranking. The strongest available markers are documented investment, product recognition, retail distribution, sustained business activity and reported expansion. Those measures are not interchangeable: an investment is not a sales figure, and a company-reported milestone is not an independently audited result.
An on-air offer also should not automatically be treated as proof that an investment was completed. The sources below document specific pitch histories and milestones, but do not establish post-show due diligence for every case. Nor do they show that appearing on the programme or receiving Dragon investment alone caused a business’s later performance.
Reggae Reggae Sauce: a funded pitch and supermarket listing
What happened in the Den
The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) recounts Levi Roots’s pitch and says Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh invested £50,000. The IPO also says Jones helped get the sauce listed by Sainsbury’s. These are the clearest documented markers of the product’s path from television pitch to retail distribution. UK IPO, “How to succeed in the Dragons’ Den” (2015)

What the record supports
The IPO’s 2022 account calls the sauce arguably the most famous product to come out of the Den. A separate company-authored retrospective says it was stocked in major UK supermarkets; that wider retail claim should be understood as the company’s account, rather than audited sales or distribution data. Magic Whiteboard: a practical idea that won investment
The product and pitch
Neil Westwood developed Magic Whiteboard after finding it inconvenient to carry a flipchart stand around NHS wards. The product offered a lightweight, portable alternative. According to the company’s history, four Dragons made offers, and Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden invested £100,000 for 40%. Magic Whiteboard Limited, “About Us”
Rank #2
What happened after the deal
The company says the founders bought back the Dragons’ shares in September 2014 and that the product has been exported to more than 20 countries. These are company-reported milestones; the export figure describes reported reach, not revenue or profit. Magic Whiteboard Limited, “About Us”
Tangle Teezer: the rejected pitch that a Dragon regretted
Tangle Teezer shows why a Den deal is not the only route to a notable product story. In a 2024 UK IPO blog, Deborah Meaden recalled the rejection: “You’re great and the product is great. We turned down the Tangle Teezer brush and lived to regret it!” The IPO was discussing a later hair invention and identified Tangle Teezer as a comparable brush. That quote documents Meaden’s regret, not the company’s financial performance. The sources available here do not provide an independently verified revenue figure for Tangle Teezer, so it cannot be ranked against other products by sales.

A list of ten would imply a level of evidence the available sources do not provide. The IPO and company accounts support these three distinct stories, but they do not establish comparable outcomes for ten UK ventures. A current pitch index lists Trunki as a children’s suitcase pitched without a deal, but that secondary listing alone is not enough to establish its present commercial status or quantify its success. The figures that can be stated illustrate different things, not a common success metric:
| Product | Den outcome | Documented marker | Evidence type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reggae Reggae Sauce | £50,000 investment from Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh | Jones helped secure a Sainsbury’s listing | UK IPO account (2015) |
| Magic Whiteboard | £100,000 for 40% from Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden | Founders say they bought back the shares in September 2014; company reports exports to more than 20 countries | Company history, accessed 2026 |
| Tangle Teezer | Rejected | Meaden later said the Dragons regretted turning it down; comparable revenue figure not stated | UK IPO blog (2024) |
Investment terms, a retail listing, export reach and a later expression of regret answer different questions. None of these sources supplies audited, comparable revenue, profit or investor-return data for a ten-product ranking.
