It keeps the series’ accessible momentum, but its plotting and pacing may feel less crisp, while Peter’s increasingly difficult choices give the story its strongest new angle.
What changes in Season 2?
Season 2 shifts Peter from answering the White House’s night phone to working in the field for Night Action, the secretive organization behind the Night Agent program. Netflix’s season guide places the premiere about nine months after the first-season finale, with Peter on a dangerous mission in Thailand. That change gives the show a fresh setting and a more active role for its lead: Peter is no longer chiefly reacting to a crisis from a desk; he is exposed to the consequences of the work firsthand.
The season has 10 episodes, and Netflix says all are streaming. Netflix’s global coverage dates its return to January 23, 2025; availability and the current listing can vary by territory.
Does the action still deliver?
Action and suspense remain the show’s main selling points. Season 2 builds on the familiar mix of danger, pursuit and conspiracy rather than reinventing the format. For viewers looking for an uncomplicated thriller binge, that continuity is a strength: the premise remains easy to follow at a broad level, and the season keeps its focus on momentum.

Gabriel Basso offered some production context in a January 30, 2025 interview with TIME. He described the Bangkok chase as involving extensive running and jumping, and said one window jump combined his work with that of stunt double Josiah Nolan. He also credited the fight coordinator and camera operators with coordinating the fight sequences. Those details are Basso’s account of making the scenes, not independent measurements of the production.
Peter’s moral choices are the season’s most interesting development
The bigger change is not simply that Peter is doing more in the field; it is that the job puts pressure on how he acts. TIME’s interview with Basso frames the season’s tension as the gap between knowing what seems right and deciding how to carry it out. Basso put it this way: “Peter has never suffered for a lack of will. He knows he has conviction. He knows what to do—but how to do it? That’s what I enjoy about this season.”

That question gives Peter more room to develop than a straightforward test of his courage would. Physical threats are still part of the story, but the moral dilemmas complicate the clear-cut decisions that defined much of his earlier role. The result is a more conflicted lead, even if viewers differ on whether the shift makes the season more compelling or more self-serious.
How does Season 2 compare with Season 1?
The critical response captures the season’s trade-off. Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus calls it “Growing more assured in its second season” and says it entertains “with no muss or fuss.” That is an aggregator’s summary, not a view shared by every critic. The same page includes criticism that the season is messier, more self-serious and sometimes slower than the first, alongside a review that says it “still delivers.”

Those contrasting reactions point to the most useful questions for deciding whether to watch: Do you want another dose of the original show’s action-first appeal, or are you hoping for tighter plotting and a more substantial change in tone? Season 2 offers more complication in Peter’s decisions, but that does not necessarily make its conspiracy easier to follow or its pacing more consistent.
Peter and Rose’s evolving relationship is another point to weigh alongside the action, plot clarity and moral stakes. The season’s premise gives their relationship a different context from Peter’s earlier work at the night desk, but whether that development feels convincing is a matter of what you want from the characters—not a reason to expect the series to become a relationship drama.

Verdict: Is Season 2 worth watching?
Yes, if you want a familiar, accessible spy thriller with a new field assignment for Peter and more attention to the compromises behind his convictions. Go in expecting a continuation of the show’s action-forward formula, not a wholesale reinvention. If your main priority is the tighter plotting or consistently brisk pacing you associate with Season 1, the second season’s messier stretches may be a drawback.
