This ranking includes both Mexican-born wrestlers and Mexican-Americans of Mexican descent, while keeping those backgrounds distinct where WWE identifies them. It weighs WWE championships and major wins alongside career longevity, influence on WWE’s presentation of lucha libre, and broader legacy. The order is an editorial judgment, not a definitive consensus; WWE’s own profiles provide the career milestones behind each selection.
How this ranking weighs WWE history
A wrestler’s standing in WWE is not the same as their standing across all of professional wrestling. This list prioritizes accomplishments in WWE, then considers how long a performer contributed, how they shaped the company’s presentation of lucha libre, and the broader significance of their career. That distinction matters for pioneers whose greatest achievements came outside WWE and for newer performers whose records are still developing.
The 10 best Mexican wrestlers in WWE history
1. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio has the strongest all-around case for the top spot: a defining WWE résumé, long-term visibility, and a direct connection to the company’s presentation of lucha libre. WWE records him as a 2023 Hall of Fame inductee, the 2006 Royal Rumble winner, a WWE Champion, and a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, alongside multiple Intercontinental, United States, tag-team, and Cruiserweight title wins. WWE also notes that he trained in the Mexican tradition of lucha libre and debuted in the company in 2002. His Royal Rumble victory came from the No. 2 entry position, and he became the smallest World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 22, according to his WWE profile.
2. Eddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero’s WWE record combines championship success with a singularly memorable character and in-ring style. WWE lists him as a WWE Champion and a winner of the Intercontinental, United States, European, and tag-team titles, among other championships. He captured the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at No Way Out 2004 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. WWE’s account emphasizes the range of his work, from technical wrestling and aerial moves to character-driven rule-bending. Placing him just behind Mysterio is a close editorial call, not a claim that one had an objectively greater legacy. WWE’s Eddie Guerrero profile documents his career.

3. Tito Santana
Tito Santana belongs high on an all-time list because of his sustained presence across a foundational period of WWE history. WWE describes him as a top competitor from the late 1970s through the early 1990s and records Intercontinental and World Tag Team Championship accomplishments. He appeared at the first nine WrestleManias and entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004. His case rests less on a single world-title peak than on longevity, consistent prominence, and a place in the company’s early WrestleMania era. WWE’s profile of Santana recounts those milestones.
4. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio assembled one of the most decorated WWE records among Mexican-born performers. WWE identifies his hometown as San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and calls him a four-time World Champion. His major milestones include a Royal Rumble victory and a Money in the Bank win, both in 2011, alongside WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship success. That combination of world-title reigns and major event victories earns him a high position here; the ranking reflects documented WWE accomplishments rather than a broader judgment about his career outside the company. WWE’s Alberto Del Rio profile lists his record.

5. Chavo Guerrero
Chavo Guerrero is included as a Mexican-American wrestler of Mexican descent whose WWE career forms part of the Guerrero family’s long presence in the company. A 2018 Bleacher Report ranking placed him fourth, illustrating that lists can differ substantially in how they balance family legacy, title history, and individual prominence. The career milestones in the WWE profiles reviewed for this ranking do not establish a comparable case for placing him above the four wrestlers listed here, so fifth is a more measured position in this order. The earlier ranking is useful as a dated example of selection and scope, not as a current consensus. Ryan Dilbert’s June 3, 2018, Bleacher Report list ranked Guerrero fourth.
6. Andrade
Andrade is Mexican-born, from Gomez Palacio, Durango, and WWE describes him as a third-generation luchador. His WWE accomplishments include NXT, United States, and Speed championships. Those wins establish a meaningful company record, while his placement below longer-tenured, more decorated names reflects the ranking’s emphasis on sustained WWE impact rather than international reputation alone. WWE’s Andrade profile records his background and championship milestones.
Rank #3

7. Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio has already accumulated multiple notable WWE milestones, though his career is still shorter than those of the top-ranked veterans. He made his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2020, became part of the first father-son duo to win WWE tag-team gold with Rey Mysterio, and later won the NXT North American and Intercontinental Championships. His placement recognizes those achievements without treating a relatively young WWE career as equivalent to decades of contribution. WWE’s Dominik Mysterio profile documents the milestones.
8. Penta
Penta brings a prominent lucha libre identity to WWE, but his WWE chapter is recent. WWE identifies him as Mexican-born, records his arrival on Raw on January 13, 2025, and lists an Intercontinental Championship. That title win makes him a credible entry in a current-era ranking; his position reflects the still-limited length of his WWE record, not a judgment on his entire wrestling career. WWE’s Penta profile lists his arrival and championship.

9. Sin Cara
Sin Cara appeared in the 2018 Bleacher Report selection, which provides a basis for considering him in a list explicitly broad enough to include Mexican-born and Mexican-American wrestlers. The career evidence available for this ranking does not support putting him ahead of the performers with more clearly documented WWE championship records above. His inclusion is therefore a lower-ranked acknowledgment of his place in WWE’s lucha libre presentation, rather than a claim that the earlier ranking’s exact order remains definitive. The 2018 list is a dated editorial reference.
10. Mil Máscaras
Mil Máscaras is essential to the history surrounding Mexican wrestlers in WWE, but his position requires a qualification: much of his career legacy was built outside WWE, and his WWE participation was limited. WWE calls him a pioneer, identifies him as the first masked man to compete in Madison Square Garden, and notes his 2012 Hall of Fame induction. WWE also credits him with paving the way for later Mexican competitors including Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and Alberto Del Rio. The ranking includes him for that influence while placing him below performers whose WWE records are more substantial. WWE’s Mil Máscaras profile describes his significance.

Foundational figure outside the top 10: El Santo
El Santo is a giant of lucha libre history, but he is better understood as a legacy honoree than as a WWE roster performer. WWE calls him one of the sport’s most famous grapplers and records his 2018 Legacy Hall of Fame induction. That recognition makes him important context for any discussion of Mexican wrestling, but it does not provide the WWE career participation needed to rank him alongside the ten performers above. WWE’s El Santo profile records the Legacy Hall of Fame recognition.
Why all-time rankings differ
There is no single canonical order for this subject. A 2018 Bleacher Report list put Eddie Guerrero first, Rey Mysterio second, Tito Santana third, Chavo Guerrero fourth, and Alberto Del Rio fifth; it also included Essa Rios and Sin Cara, while treating Mil Máscaras separately because most of his accomplishments were outside WWE. That list is best read as a dated editorial choice. A ranking that puts more weight on WWE title achievements, sustained tenure, or influence on the company’s lucha libre presentation will produce a different order.
For newer names such as Penta and Dominik Mysterio, the central judgment is how to balance an early but notable WWE peak against the longer records of established performers. For pioneers such as Mil Máscaras, it is how much broader influence should count when WWE-specific participation was limited. Making those criteria explicit is more useful than presenting any one list as settled fact.
