Bianca wants to keep him alive so she can learn who he worked for. In the confrontation, however, the Jackal shoots Vince and then Bianca. She does not arrest him or take him into custody.
What happens to the Jackal after the villa?
The Jackal gets away from the villa but is struck by a speeding car. The finale later shows that he has survived: days afterward, he is in Budapest, where he meets Zina. He agrees to go after Winthrop’s circle, but says finding his family comes first.
#1 Best Overall
Nuria and their child are still absent from the closing scenes. The episode leaves the Jackal’s next move open rather than showing him find or reunite with them.
What does the ending set up for Season 2?
The finale leaves two immediate threads unresolved: the Jackal’s separation from Nuria and their child, and his conflict with Winthrop’s circle and the people who hired or supported him. Sky’s finale explainer says Season 2 had been confirmed before the finale aired. Peacock also surfaced an official Season 2 renewal announcement, though its pages may be region-restricted.
Rank #2
The ending is a deliberate departure from the original story’s outcome. In a TVLine interview published December 20, 2024, executive producer Gareth Neame said the team wanted to continue the story as a long-form series and subvert the original ending, in which the Jackal dies. That change lets the series carry its central character into another story rather than close his fate here.
