Who are the best archers in anime? This curated ranking weighs demonstrated bow skill and accuracy within each character’s own story, consistency and tactical judgment, effectiveness under that story’s rules, and memorability. It is not a universal power scale: a school kyudo competitor, a battlefield tactician, and a magical heroine do not face comparable conditions.
A useful audience benchmark is Anime! Anime!’s 2025 poll asking which characters who use a bow come to mind. It drew 1,755 responses from August 24–31, 2025, and was published October 17. The publisher says the poll reflects reader interest rather than determining which character is superior. Its results help identify familiar candidates; the ranking below applies its own criteria.
How this ranking compares unlike archers
Realistic kyudo technique and supernatural attacks can both make a character memorable, but they are not the same kind of evidence. Where a character’s effectiveness depends on magic or other fictional rules, this list considers how well that ability serves the character’s role rather than treating it as proof of superior real-world accuracy. The poll does not provide standardized feats, accuracy rates, or head-to-head comparisons, so positions here are editorial judgments, not objective cross-universe measurements.
Anime! Anime!’s poll provides a recent audience benchmark, not this ranking’s order. It placed Kagome Higurashi first, Ukyo Saionji second, and Archer from Fate/stay night third. The article reported support of about 10% for Kagome, about 9% for Ukyo, and about 5% for Archer; these are reported shares, not exact vote counts. Its respondents were about 40% male and 60% female; about 45% were 19 or younger and about 20% were in their twenties. Anime! Anime!’s 2025 poll and results

The 10 best archers in anime
1. Archer — Fate/stay night
Archer earns the top spot for versatility and tactical adaptability. The poll’s reader comments point to a fighter who can shift between close-range dual-sword combat and a ranged Broken Phantasm attack. That blend makes him more than a specialist waiting for the right distance: he can change how he fights as circumstances demand. This entry refers specifically to the character called Archer in Fate/stay night, not every character assigned the Archer class across the Fate franchise.
2. Ukyo Saionji — Dr. STONE
Ukyo’s bow is part of a broader tactical skill set. Anime! Anime!’s poll article describes his sonar-operator background, strong hearing, precision, and ability to control his shots; it also notes readers’ appreciation of his preference for avoiding deaths. His value is not simply hitting a target, but using information and restraint to influence a dangerous situation. Those details are attributed here to the poll article rather than presented as a comprehensive canon profile.
Rank #2
- An import from Kadokawa
- From the anime series
- Figure highlights her supple proportions and the healthy physique
- Her equipment, including the yew bow and arrows made from tree branches, is also meticulously detailed
3. Kagome Higurashi — Inuyasha
Kagome’s strength lies in growth and in the importance of her sacred arrows against formidable yokai and Naraku. The poll article characterizes her as a beginner who improves in practical encounters. That progression makes her an engaging archer: she is not defined only by innate ability, but by learning to act under pressure and contribute against threats that ordinary attacks cannot handle.
4. Kikyo — Inuyasha
Kikyo represents the spiritual archer: a miko whose bow skills belong to the supernatural world of Inuyasha. She makes the list for the distinctive combination of archery and spiritual purpose, as well as her place among the series’ most recognizable bow-using characters. Her fictional effectiveness should be understood within that setting, not compared directly with a realistic sport archer’s technique.

5. Minato Narumiya — Tsurune
Minato brings a different standard to the list: school kyudo rather than fantasy combat. In a story centered on the discipline of Japanese archery, composure and form matter alongside hitting a target. That grounded sporting context offers a useful contrast to characters whose bows launch sacred or magical attacks. The poll identifies Minato as a school kyudo character, but does not supply standardized performance data for comparing him with the others.
6. Uryu Ishida — Bleach
Uryu is a bow-using fighter in a supernatural action series, placing him between the list’s grounded practitioners and its most overtly magical archers. His inclusion in Anime! Anime!’s top ten reflects recognition as a bow-wielding character; the poll does not establish a comparable measure of accuracy or rank his feats against the other entries.

7. Madoka Kaname — Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Madoka brings a magical frame to archery. Her place here reflects the memorable way a bow fits into a story where character abilities are shaped by fantasy rules, rather than a claim that her shots can be measured against kyudo or battlefield archery. The poll names her among its top ten but does not provide a standardized account of her skill.
8. Iruma Suzuki — Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!
Iruma tied with Uryu for sixth in the poll; this ranking places him eighth as an editorial choice. His presence broadens the list beyond the more familiar action and spiritual archetypes, bringing a fantasy school setting into the mix. As with other poll entries for which the article gives no standardized feats, his position is a judgment about the range and memorability of anime’s bow users, not a measured comparison.

9. Kaguya Shinomiya — Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
Kaguya’s inclusion shows how a character can enter the bow-user conversation outside the usual battlefield or kyudo story. Anime! Anime!’s poll places her ninth, but does not provide comparable archery feats or a claim of technical superiority. Her spot recognizes her as a notable answer to the question of which anime characters use a bow.
10. Eirin Yagokoro — Touhou Project
Eirin completes the poll-informed selection with a fantasy-world archer. The supplied poll coverage identifies her as a bow-using character, but offers no standardized details to support a close ranking by accuracy or combat results. Her inclusion reflects the breadth of the field: anime and anime-adjacent character traditions portray archers through very different rules and genres.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the poll says—and what it cannot settle
Anime! Anime!’s survey is useful for seeing which bow-using characters readers recognize. Its top ten spans kyudo, tactical archery, spiritual combat, and fantasy or magical settings. That variety explains why a reader-interest poll and a skill ranking will not necessarily produce the same order. A poll position records responses to “Which characters who use a bow come to mind?”; it does not establish who would win a duel or who has the best real-world form.
There is also a limited real-world connection. A Geena Davis Institute report on a survey of USA Archery members found that, among female respondents under 18, 48.5% said Katniss Everdeen influenced their decision to take up archery “a lot” or “some,” while 36.4% said the same of Princess Merida. The survey concerned fictional archers in film and television, not anime characters specifically, so it suggests that fictional portrayals can inspire some young archers without establishing an anime-specific effect. “Archer” is not a unique biography across the Fate franchise. The official Fate/EXTRA Last Encore page describes Robin Hood as an Archer skilled in guerrilla warfare and names the Yew Bow and No Face May King among his Noble Phantasms. That profile concerns Robin Hood, not the Fate/stay night character ranked above. Official Fate/EXTRA Last Encore Archer profile
