Spoilers for The Conjuring: Last Rites and its credits sequence. Yes. After the credits, the film shows Ed Warren standing beside the mirror at the center of its story. On-screen text connects it to the Warren Occult Museum and calls it a “conjure mirror.” The reveal is a retrospective coda, not a confirmed announcement of another film. Although the title asks what director Michael Chaves said, the available interview comments concern the wedding reunion—not the mirror scene.
What happens during and after the credits?
There are two distinct pieces. During the credits, an archival montage uses photographs and footage of the real Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with news material, according to ComicBook.com’s September 5, 2025 report and Us Weekly’s September 5, 2025 account.
After the full credits, a final image shows Ed Warren beside the mirror featured in the movie. The accompanying text identifies the object with the Warren Occult Museum and its “conjure mirror” lore. A credits-scene catalog also lists the film as having material both during and after the credits, identifying the final image as the Conjuring Mirror displayed in the museum.
What does the mirror reveal mean?
The clearest reading is that the image links the movie’s fictional story to the Warrens’ museum and the franchise’s “conjuring” language. It gives the mirror a final place in the series’ gallery of objects associated with the Warrens. That is an interpretation of the image and text described in the reports, not a verified statement of Chaves’s intent.

The image does not show a new character or plot event, and the cited accounts do not describe it as an explicit tease for a next film. It therefore supports a retrospective nod, not a confirmed sequel hook; it says nothing definitive about whether the wider franchise will continue.
What Michael Chaves said about the ending
In a November 21, 2025 CinemaBlend interview, Chaves discussed the wedding reunion at the end of the movie, not the mirror image after the credits. He said the reunion appeared in the first draft and described the effort to bring back cast members for it:

“We were shooting in England and he was like, ‘Anyone who’s willing to travel, we gotta get them over there.’ And so we brought as many people from the series as possible. We had an even wider net, but some people were working. We couldn’t coordinate everything. But I’m really happy with everybody that we got in there, and, you know, for a lot of the people it was my first time meeting them. I’m a fan of the series as well, so I was a total nerd, just like geeking out with them.”
That quote explains the reunion and cameos only; it should not be treated as Chaves’s explanation of the mirror reveal.

How the wedding ending relates to the credits
The movie closes with Judy Warren and Tony’s wedding, where returning characters from earlier Conjuring films appear among the guests. CinemaBlend names Lili Taylor and Mackenzie Foy, Frances O’Connor and Madison Wolfe, and Julian Hilliard, alongside producer and director James Wan. Chaves said the filmmakers invited a broad group and brought as many people from the series as they could coordinate.
Seen after that reunion, the archival montage and final museum image can feel like a farewell gesture toward the series’ history. That description is an interpretation of how the ending and credits are constructed, not a claim Chaves made about the mirror.
