Did Diddy testify at his trial?
No. Combs did not take the stand in the federal trial. The Associated Press reported that fact in its coverage of the appeal arguments. Because the trial concluded in 2025, whether he would testify is now a historical question, not a decision still awaiting him.
What was Diddy found guilty of?
On July 2, 2025, the jury returned a mixed verdict: it convicted Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and both sex-trafficking counts. The convictions concerned transportation involving Casandra Ventura and a second person identified in the case timeline as Jane.
The distinction matters: acquittal on the racketeering and sex-trafficking charges did not erase the two convictions. The jury’s verdict determined guilt on the charges; sentencing was a separate step for the judge.

How long was he sentenced to?
On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison—four years and two months—along with five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine, according to the case timeline. The 50-month term is the sentence imposed, not a projected release date.
Why is the sentence disputed on appeal?
One issue raised in the appeal is whether the sentencing judge improperly considered conduct associated with charges the jury had acquitted. The defense argued that the sentence reflected acquitted conduct. The government argued that the sentence was below the applicable federal guideline range and consistent with comparable cases. These are the parties’ positions, not a ruling by the appeals court.

At sentencing, Subramanian explained the distinction between the offenses of conviction and the court’s broader sentencing considerations. The AP quoted him as saying: “Mr. Combs, you’re being sentenced for the offenses of conviction, NOT the crimes he was acquitted of. However, under law, the court ‘shall consider’ the nature of the offense and characteristics of the defendant.”

The Second Circuit heard oral arguments on April 9, 2026. The AP reported that the panel did not rule immediately after argument. The argument date alone does not establish the appeal’s outcome, and the latest confirmed information here does not establish whether the panel has issued a decision since then.

For a current status, check the Second Circuit’s appeals docket, which the court says is maintained in its electronic filing system and accessed through PACER. Do not treat the sentencing dispute or arguments heard in court as an appellate decision.
