Spoilers for Survivor 48, Season 48, Episode 4. The March 19, 2025 episode, officially titled “The House Party’s Over,” reshuffles all three tribes—and turns Vula’s apparent three-to-two majority into a blindside. Kyle plays an immunity idol on himself, negating three votes, while his secretly aligned partner Kamilla votes with him to eliminate Thomas Krottinger.
What happened in Survivor 48 Episode 4?
On Day 8, Jeff Probst tells the players to drop their buffs. The tribe swap creates three new groups: Civa, Vula and Lagi. The episode’s official synopsis describes an unexpected twist that redirects players’ games and an undercover alliance on the losing tribe that leads to a shocking Tribal Council.
The new tribes
- Civa: Chrissy, Mitch, Cedrek, Sai and Bianca.
- Vula: Joe, Shauhin, Thomas, Kyle and Kamilla.
- Lagi: David, Charity, Star, Eva and Mary.
The new Lagi wins the immunity challenge, with Civa finishing second. The obstacle course ends with a puzzle, leaving Vula to attend Tribal Council.
How did Kyle and Kamilla turn Vula’s majority against Thomas?
On paper, Vula looks simple: Joe, Shauhin and Thomas are an established “California Girls” alliance, giving them a three-to-two edge over Kyle and Kamilla. But Kyle and Kamilla are coordinating in secret while acting as if they are estranged and exposed. Kamilla also uses what she learned about Thomas’s account of his journey as leverage in the new tribe.

Shauhin searches Kyle’s bag for an idol but does not find one. At Tribal Council, Kyle plays an immunity idol on himself. The three votes cast against him are negated; Kyle and Kamilla’s votes send Thomas out. Reality Tea reports the final tally as 2–0 after the negated votes.
The key strategic reversal is not simply that Kyle has an idol: it is that Vula’s apparent majority does not know the two-person minority is working together. The search of Kyle’s bag adds pressure, but the episode’s account shows the idol was still available when he needed to play it. With their votes coordinated, Kyle and Kamilla can turn that single advantage into Thomas’s elimination.

What else changes after the swap?
Civa’s uneasy new combinations
The episode depicts Sai remaining wary of Cedrek after the previous vote. Bianca, who lacks a vote, is shown trying to find a place between the new tribe’s pairs. Those scenes establish uncertainty on Civa, but they do not determine the episode’s elimination.
Lagi’s early connections
On the winning tribe, Eva quickly connects with David while considering Star as a possible target. These are the episode’s portrayed conversations and considerations, rather than proof of private motives beyond what the episode shows.

Why the episode’s title fits the vote
“The House Party’s Over” is the CBS-listed title; “Better Swap Around” captures the episode’s central result. The swap changes the social map, but the decisive shift comes from what the new Vula does not see: Kyle and Kamilla’s partnership. A visible three-person alliance appears to control the vote until Kyle’s idol removes its target and the concealed pair’s ballots decide who leaves.
Kamilla’s confessional puts the episode’s personal note alongside its strategy. Reality Tea reports her saying, “I completely underestimate myself more than anyone, and it’s crazy to realize that.” The line is reported by a recap, not an official transcript.
