Spoilers: James Gunn’s 2025 Superman has two scenes during or after the credits: a tender Superman-and-Krypto moment midway through, and a comic exchange between Superman and Mister Terrific afterward. Neither clearly sets up a future DC Universe story. Kara Zor-El’s appearance before the credits is separate and has a more direct connection to Supergirl.
How many end-credits scenes does Superman have?
There are two: one in the middle of the credits and one after them. The distinction matters because the film’s Kara Zor-El appearance happens at the end of the story, before the credits, and is not one of these two scenes.
What happens in the mid-credits scene?
Superman and Krypto sit together on the moon. Krypto gives Superman an affectionate hug, making the scene a small character moment rather than a new plot development. Forbes describes the moment, and TIME likewise characterizes it as a cute Krypto beat.
What happens after the credits?
Superman and Mister Terrific look at a damaged building in Metropolis. Superman points out a crack that remains visible; Mister Terrific responds with irritation and walks away. The exchange plays as a joke about the city’s imperfect repair, not as a dramatic reveal. Forbes recounts their exchange, while TIME summarizes the gag.

Do the two scenes hint at a future DCU movie?
Not clearly. Contemporary coverage from TIME and Forbes treats both scenes as character-focused moments rather than explicit setups for another film. That is an interpretation of what appears onscreen and in the reporting, not a confirmed statement from Gunn about his intent.
There is a later sequel announcement, but it should not be read backward into these scenes. DC announced Man of Tomorrow as a follow-up to Superman, with a US theatrical release date of July 9, 2027. The announcement confirms the follow-up and date; it does not say either credits scene teases that film’s story. DC’s announcement.

How is Kara Zor-El’s appearance different?
Kara, played by Milly Alcock, appears at the film’s end before the credits begin. That is a separate ending beat, not a third credits scene. DC connects this version of Kara to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the comic identified as the basis for the upcoming Supergirl film. DC’s Easter-egg article cautions that its explanations should not be treated as confirmation or denial of future DC plans, so the connection is useful context, not proof of a specific storyline. DC’s Easter-egg guide.
Scene-by-scene comparison
| Scene | Placement | Focus and tone | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superman and Krypto | Mid-credits | Affectionate character moment | A brief coda; no reported explicit sequel hook. |
| Superman and Mister Terrific | After the credits | Comic banter about damage in Metropolis | A local-damage joke; no reported explicit sequel hook. |
| Kara Zor-El | At the end of the film, before the credits | Franchise-relevant character appearance | Connected by DC to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, with DC cautioning against treating its Easter-egg coverage as confirmation of future plans. |
Is it worth waiting through the credits?
If you want the complete film experience and enjoy its character beats, stay for both scenes: the first gives Superman and Krypto a warm moment, and the second lands a brief joke with Mister Terrific. If you are waiting only for a clear DCU plot reveal, the scenes do not provide one according to the contemporary coverage cited above.
