In Tracker season 3, episode 6, Colter Shaw searches for a missing crime scene cleaner whose fascination with true crime may have drawn her into danger. The episode, titled “Angel,” also follows amateur sleuths chasing a killer—and shows how that pursuit can put others at risk.
What happens in “Angel”?
The case begins when a crime scene cleaner disappears. Colter learns that the missing woman is fascinated by true crime, a detail that may connect her interests to the danger she faces. The investigation also brings in amateur sleuths who are hunting a killer, adding another layer of risk to the case.
CBS’s official synopsis establishes those story elements but does not name the cleaner or specify how the mystery resolves. Published recaps identify her as Margo Webster, her coworker as Ruth, and place the story in Fort Wayne, Indiana. One recap describes an opening cleanup assignment at the Hardens’ home, followed by Margo’s failure to show up for a later job. Those names and scene details come from secondary recaps, not CBS’s brief synopsis.
Why true crime matters to the episode
“Angel” makes true-crime fascination part of the missing-person case rather than simply background characterization. Colter must consider whether the cleaner’s interest brought her closer to danger. Meanwhile, the amateur sleuths’ own hunt for a killer raises a related question: when does curiosity or a search for answers become a threat to other people?

That premise gives the episode its unsettling edge. Calling it Colter’s “creepiest” case is a matter of taste, not an official designation; the documented setup is a disappearance, a potentially dangerous true-crime connection, and civilians pursuing a killer.
