The U.S. The Office follows the employees of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, where workplace routines unfold in front of an unseen documentary crew. The ensemble pairs familiar characters—from regional manager Michael Scott to receptionist-turned-sales representative Pam Beesly Halpert—with the performers who play them. The series ran for nine seasons and 203 episodes, from March 24, 2005, to May 16, 2013. Here’s who’s who, how the story ends, and what official sources document about selected cast members’ later work.
Which version of The Office is this?
This guide covers the U.S. series set at the Scranton branch of the paper company Dunder Mifflin. Peacock describes it as an American adaptation of the Ricky Gervais-led British original, following employees under the watch of an ever-present but unseen documentary crew. The U.S. show premiered March 24, 2005, and ended May 16, 2013; Peacock’s listing identifies nine seasons and 203 episodes. Peacock’s official series listing provides the premise and series details, while NBCUniversal’s March 24, 2025 anniversary article documents the dates and milestones.
Who are the characters in The Office, and who plays them?

| Dwight Schrute | Rainn Wilson | A successful salesman who lacks social skills and common sense. |
| Pam Beesly Halpert | Jenna Fischer | Begins as the receptionist and later becomes a sales representative. |
| Jim Halpert | John Krasinski | A likable everyman whose story includes feelings for Pam. |
| Kelly Kapoor | Mindy Kaling | Scranton branch employee. |
| Phyllis Vance | Phyllis Smith | Scranton branch employee. |
| Andy Bernard | Ed Helms | Scranton branch employee. |
| Darryl Philbin | Craig Robinson | Scranton branch employee. |

| Stanley Hudson | Leslie David Baker | Scranton branch employee. |
| Meredith Palmer | Kate Flannery | Scranton branch employee. |
| Kevin Malone | Brian Baumgartner | Scranton branch employee. |
| Creed Bratton | Creed Bratton | Named in Peacock’s series listing. |
The actor-character pairings come from Peacock’s official listing and character roster. The roster is a useful cast guide, but its short descriptions do not establish equally detailed roles or arcs for every character.
