Adam Sandler performed “Adam Sandler’s Song: 50 Years” during SNL50: The Anniversary Special, the three-hour celebration that aired on NBC on February 16, 2025. Jack Nicholson introduced him. The song looked back at the show’s history and paid tribute to late cast members, giving the performance both a celebratory and memorial tone.
What was Adam Sandler’s SNL 50 song called?
The Television Academy lists the song as “Adam Sandler’s Song: 50 Years” and credits Sandler for its music and lyrics. The listing is for the song; the Academy’s awards record separately identifies SNL50: The Anniversary Special as the winner in the Variety Special (Live) category. That award was for the program, not the song. Television Academy awards record
What happens in the tribute?
Introduced by Jack Nicholson, Sandler sang about Saturday Night Live’s history and singled out former cast members who have died, including Chris Farley, Norm Macdonald, Gilda Radner, Jan Hooks, and Phil Hartman. The Associated Press describes the performance as a look back at the show that also honored those performers. Associated Press coverage
Why was Sandler’s performance personal?
