Alex Moffat and Beck Bennett returned to Saturday Night Live in “The White POTUS,” a political parody of The White Lotus season 3 that aired April 12, 2025. Moffat played Eric Trump, while Bennett appeared as Vladimir Putin.
What is “The White POTUS”?
“The White POTUS” was a prerecorded sketch in the April 12, 2025 episode of Saturday Night Live, part of the show’s 50th season. Jon Hamm hosted, with Lizzo as musical guest. Boston.com’s episode recap identifies the sketch as a political-themed parody and links to the SNL video.
The sketch borrows the wealthy-family tensions and resort setup of The White Lotus season 3, recasting them around Donald Trump’s family and political figures. Its title substitutes “POTUS”—an abbreviation for president of the United States—for “Lotus.”
Who did Alex Moffat and Beck Bennett play?
| Performer | Sketch role | Connection to the parody |
|---|---|---|
| Alex Moffat | Eric Trump | Paired with Mikey Day’s Donald Trump Jr. in a dynamic modeled on the brothers in The White Lotus, according to AOL’s sketch recap. |
| Beck Bennett | Vladimir Putin | Appears as a shirtless Russian president, as described in the AOL recap. |
Moffat and Bennett are former SNL cast members; their appearances brought both back to the show for the sketch.

How does the sketch connect to The White Lotus?
The parody uses three linked ideas: a high-status family on a resort trip, frictions within that family, and political figures recast in the world of the HBO series. The clearest reported character echo is the pairing of Moffat’s Eric Trump and Day’s Don Jr. with the brothers in season 3. Lizzo’s Belinda provides another direct connection, taking a role from the original series.
