Season 2 of My Life with the Walter Boys leans into romantic escalation rather than resolution. Jackie, Alex, and Cole’s triangle reaches a long-awaited confession, but Alex overhears it—and an emergency involving George interrupts the confrontation. The result is a deliberately messy teen romance, not a tidy answer to whom Jackie chooses.
Season 2 turns the love triangle into a web
The Netflix series follows Jackie, a teenager who loses her family in an accident and moves from Manhattan to rural Colorado to live with her guardian Katherine, Katherine’s husband George, and their large family. In Silver Falls, Jackie is adjusting to a new life while working through grief—and caught between brothers Alex and Cole. Netflix’s Season 2 guide says the new season is an original screen story, independent of Ali Novak’s book sequel. The creative team took the first book’s framework in its own direction, adding characters and storylines while intensifying the central triangle.
That expansion makes the season busier, but not necessarily more decisive. Jackie’s romantic uncertainty shares space with other pairings, including Danny and Erin and Zach, Skylar, and Nathan. In its Aug. 28, 2025 review, TechRadar criticized the repeated relationship complications and the number of concurrent romantic plots, arguing that the story can become difficult to track. That is a critical judgment, not a consensus—but it gets at the season’s central trade-off: more entanglements create more heightened, messy romance, while also making it harder to feel that the characters have moved forward.
What happens in the Season 2 finale?
Spoilers: Cole tells Jackie he loves her, and Jackie admits she loves him too. Alex has been listening. The confession lands differently because Jackie and Alex have also been secretly involved, and she had already told him she loved him.

Before the three can face the consequences, their older brother Will arrives on an ATV, and ambulances appear after something happens to George. The episode ends without revealing what the emergency means for the family. Netflix’s finale explainer reports that creator Melanie Halsall had planned both the confrontation and a major crisis involving George. As she put it, “I wanted a big finale, and I was always working towards that scene between Jackie, Cole, and Alex.”
The ending is a cliffhanger, but it is not the end of the story. Netflix’s Season 3 page, published Aug. 6, 2026, says the third-season premiere picks up after George is taken to hospital. Season 3 is streaming and has eight episodes.

Is it a replacement for The Summer I Turned Pretty?
The comparison works best as a way to position the show for viewers who like young-adult romance centered on a complicated triangle. It is not proof that the series is a direct substitute, or that the two handle romance in the same way. Season 2’s defining choice is to multiply romantic complications and leave its central confrontation unresolved; viewers looking for a clean, decisive romantic turn may find that frustrating. Viewers who enjoy tangled relationships and a family-centered ensemble may find that very uncertainty part of the appeal.
There is also an important adaptation distinction: the television series’ second season is not an adaptation of Ali Novak’s sequel. Netflix describes it as an original story built from the show’s own take on the first book’s framework. The cast and premise guide provides background on the series and the source novel.

Verdict: escalation wins over closure
Season 2 delivers the heightened romantic complications its premise promises, but it does not settle Jackie’s feelings or the brothers’ conflict before cutting to black. That makes the finale effective as a hook and potentially exasperating as a payoff. The larger series has since continued: Season 3 picks up the George emergency, so viewers do not have to treat the Season 2 cliffhanger as the story’s final word.
