His Three Daughters is a 2024 family drama written, directed, and edited by Azazel Jacobs. Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne play three estranged stepsisters who reunite in their father’s New York apartment as he nears the end of his life. Netflix lists the film in some regional catalogues, including Australia; check Netflix in your country for current availability.
What is His Three Daughters about?
The film follows Katie, Christina, and Rachel over three volatile days as they care for their ailing father in his cramped apartment. They share a father but have different mothers, temperaments, and histories, and the strain of anticipating his death brings old grievances into the open. Netflix describes the reunion as emotional, bittersweet, and often funny rather than treating it as a straightforward account of caregiving. Netflix’s title page and its Media Center synopsis provide the official premise.

Who are the three sisters?
| Character | Actor | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Katie | Carrie Coon | A controlling Brooklyn mother. |
| Christina | Elizabeth Olsen | Free-spirited and separated from her children for the first time. |
| Rachel | Natasha Lyonne | She has stayed in their father’s apartment and is a sports-betting stoner. |
The story gives all three sisters and performers a central role; Olsen is one of the co-leads, not the sole focus. Netflix’s official credits identify Jacobs as the film’s writer, director, and editor. Netflix Media Center
What kind of drama is it?
Much of the film’s pressure comes from confinement: the sisters have to share a small apartment while facing a loss they approach differently. Its tone balances grief and tension with humor. TIME critic Stephanie Zacharek’s review reads the film through grief and complicated sibling bonds; that is a critical interpretation, distinct from the film’s official synopsis. TIME’s review
