The 2016 “Forever Country” video brings together three familiar songs—“Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “On the Road Again” and “I Will Always Love You”—in a collaboration made to celebrate the 50th Annual CMA Awards. The Country Music Association said 30 CMA Award-winning acts took part; the single was produced by Shane McAnally and the video directed by Joseph Kahn.
Which songs are in the “Forever Country” medley?
The medley combines John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” The CMA identified all three original artists as former CMA Entertainers of the Year. Rather than presenting them as three separate performances, the project brings their songs together in one collaborative recording.
The CMA’s announcement names the source songs but does not provide a timestamped sequence or detailed breakdown of how the melodies are arranged. The three-song blend is the clearest guide to what listeners will hear.
Who appears in the video?
The CMA’s September 2016 roster announcement lists these 30 acts:
