Co-creator Robert King said the choice came from Katja Herbers, who wanted Kristen to cover for the baby rather than wonder whether she had imagined the moment. The scene keeps Timothy’s nature unresolved. The Kings also discussed a possible fifth-season monastery story for Sister Andrea and Fenna, but there is no sourced confirmation of a standalone Sister Andrea spinoff.
What does Kristen see in the finale?
In “Fear of the End,” the series finale, Kristen notices that Timothy’s eyes change and his teeth sharpen. She hides what she has seen from David. The moment recalls the Season 3 storyline in which Leland’s plot led to the birth of Kristen’s baby; Netflix’s recap of that storyline provides context for the finale’s reveal: Netflix Tudum’s Season 3 recap.

Robert King told TV Guide that Herbers’ suggestion changed the scene: the script had left room for Kristen to doubt her perception, while Herbers wanted her to know what she saw and deliberately conceal it. King described the choice this way: “Katja’s idea, which I’m thrilled by, was that she sees that it’s demonic and covers for it, which plays into the idea of mothering, which has been the very nature of the character from the very beginning.” TV Guide interview with Robert King
Is Timothy really demonic?
The finale shows demonic features, but it does not definitively establish that Timothy is the Antichrist. The distinction matters: Kristen’s reaction is clear, while the child’s future remains open.

King connected Kristen’s concealment to her maternal instinct and the series’ recurring nature-versus-nurture question. Herbers described Kristen as acting on the belief that she might love the child into goodness. That is a character choice and a thematic possibility, not a resolution of the supernatural question. The ending invites viewers to consider whether nurture could change Timothy without removing the danger the reveal suggests.
What happens to Sister Andrea and Leland?
By the end, the Church has ended the assessor program and the team disperses. Kristen, David, and the children go to Rome to help restart it; Ben remains in New York. Leland is confined in a cabinet at the silent monastery, watched by Sister Andrea and Fenna. The final image of Timothy supplies the show’s last unresolved threat.

Michelle King described Andrea as someone who believes in evil and original sin and acts as a warrior: “She brought a very clear-eyed view that more or less aligns with the church. And she thinks there is evil. She thinks there is original sin. For the most part, she doesn’t have doubts. She is there as a warrior.” TV Guide interview with Michelle King

Yes—as a possible continuation of Evil, not as a confirmed spinoff. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Robert King described a fifth-season concept that would return to the silent monastery, with Andrea and Fenna facing supernatural trouble tied to underground Bitcoin-mining machinery and its low hum affecting nearby towns. He also recalled an earlier idea to visit the retreat sooner and show Andrea fighting demons there, which the production scaled back for financial reasons. Los Angeles Times interview with the Kings

The distinction between that concept and a spinoff is straightforward:
| Possibility | What the creators described | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Evil Season 5 | A continuation of the ensemble, including an Andrea-and-Fenna monastery story. | A contemplated story idea; no fifth season is established. |
| Sister Andrea spinoff | A standalone series centered on Andrea. | No sourced announcement or order for a spinoff. |
Michelle King said the finale was intended to feel complete while leaving room for more: “We wanted to end the story in a way that was satisfying to the viewers and felt like a conclusion and, yet, still allowed for the option of telling more stories, if that were ever a possibility.” TV Guide interview with Michelle King
Evil ended after four seasons; the fourth was extended by four episodes to resolve major stories. The Kings said they would have continued for two more seasons, with the Los Angeles Times interview describing their expectation that one would have expanded from the four finale episodes. Paramount’s catalog lists the completed series as four seasons and 50 episodes, released from 2019 to 2024: Paramount Global Content: Evil. Paramount+ lists the four seasons, though streaming availability varies by region: Evil on Paramount+.
